Step out of the village
Hoa Dong lotus (Hoa Thinh commune) is a crop that has been converted from less productive rice land. For decades, Hoa Dong lotus was only known within the commune. In 2021, the Hoa Dong Agricultural Service Cooperative successfully built the Hoa Dong lotus powder brand according to the OCOP 3-star provincial standard. In 2026, this product was awarded the Mai An Tiem prize. From there, through trade promotion, Hoa Dong lotus powder has followed other agricultural products to reach markets throughout the province, the country, and the world.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Minh, the director of this cooperative, said that the products are supported in participating in fairs and seminars introducing typical agricultural products. Thanks to this, the whole province and the whole country know about Hoa Dong lotus, as well as a peaceful countryside with vast lotus ponds.
“In the past, I simply thought that as long as agricultural products yielded high production and tasted good, people would naturally seek them out. It wasn't until I interacted with other brands, businesses, and trading entities that I understood that proving the quality of my products required indicators, standards, and investment in packaging and processing technology. To successfully bring agricultural products out of the village, first and foremost, awareness of commerce and the market must be raised,” Mr. Minh further shared.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the province has 764 OCOP products. Of these, 2 products have achieved 5 stars, 1 product has the potential to achieve 5 stars, 50 products have achieved 4 stars, 10 products have the potential to achieve 4 stars, and 656 products have achieved 3 stars. To promote trade for local agricultural products, the province has implemented the OCOP Program for the period 2021-2025, with a vision to 2030; established centers and points for introducing and selling OCOP products throughout the province, forming a network of centers from the provincial to the local level. Simultaneously, promote activities to support the consumption of OCOP products, focusing mainly on trade promotion, market expansion, and stimulating consumer demand through trade fairs and exhibitions, regional and national supply-demand connection conferences, programs to bring Vietnamese goods into domestic and international distribution systems, or integrating them into the "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods" campaign…
Reaching out to the world
Thanks to trade promotion fairs, many agricultural products from the province have established relationships with partners from Japan, Singapore, China, South Korea, Germany, etc. A typical example is Simexco Daklak (2-9 Dak Lak Import-Export Company Limited).
According to the company's representative, their coffee products are currently exported to over 100 foreign markets, placing them among the top 5 largest exporters of coffee and pepper in Vietnam. This achievement is thanks to 32 years of networking through promotional events and trade connections both domestically and internationally that the company has participated in.
Since the beginning of the year, the Dak Lak Center for Industrial Promotion and Trade Promotion (under the Provincial Department of Industry and Trade) has coordinated, organized, and disseminated information on numerous trade promotion programs; mobilized, encouraged, and facilitated the participation of businesses, production facilities, and cooperatives in trade conferences, product consumption networking events, fairs, and seminars... Notable examples include supporting businesses and cooperatives to participate in the Spring Fair in Hanoi, the Vietnam-Laos Trade and Tourism Fair in Laos; and organizing the 2026 Trade and Tourism Fair showcasing typical products of Dak Lak province, attracting 90 businesses, cooperatives, and OCOP (One Commune One Product) entities participating in 200 booths…
Emphasizing the importance of trade promotion activities and connecting supply and demand for goods, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dao My stated that this is a necessary activity to create a trading environment, connect businesses, and promote and introduce local specialty products. At these programs, businesses have the opportunity to access, research, coordinate production and processing, and boost exports.
“Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has chosen Dak Lak province as the venue for many large-scale trade promotion activities. This is an opportunity for businesses to share their products with other provinces and partners worldwide, to invite investors to exploit the value of products from the South Central Coast and Central Highlands regions in general, and Dak Lak in particular, and to promote the development of export goods. In the near future, the province will coordinate with relevant departments to propose to the Ministry of Industry and Trade the organization of larger-scale trade promotion programs to exploit advantages and potential, and bring the province's products to countries around the world,” Comrade Dao My said.
