The nemesis of criminals

For his outstanding achievements and contributions in the fight against crime, including his direct involvement in dismantling many major cases, Captain Le Huy Thang, an officer of the Security Investigation Department of the Provincial Police, was honored with the "Outstanding Young Police Officer of the Nation" award in 2024.

Born in 1991 in Vinh Tuong district, Captain Le Huy Thang grew up in a simple farming family. From a young age, Thang nurtured the dream of becoming a People's Public Security officer and was determined to study hard to achieve high academic results. In 2009, Thang passed the entrance exam to the People's Security Academy, specializing in security investigation.

After five years of training and development in a highly professional and disciplined environment, Comrade Thang gradually matured, equipping himself with the necessary skills and knowledge. Upon graduation, Le Huy Thang was assigned to work at the Vinh Yen City Police Department. From 2018 to the present, he has served in the Security Investigation Department of the Provincial Police.

Throughout his career, Le Huy Thang's abilities, expertise, and strengths have been demonstrated in each specific case. In 2023, he directly participated in resolving 4 cases involving 21 defendants, including 3 cases with 20 defendants charged with "Illegal trading of invoices," recovering nearly 14 billion VND in illicit profits and taxes for the State budget; and 1 case with 1 defendant charged with "Organizing illegal emigration," making a significant contribution to stabilizing security and order in the area.

In 2024, with the experience he had accumulated, Captain Le Huy Thang continued to be trusted by his superiors and assigned to directly handle and resolve 2 reports of criminal activity, 2 cases involving 8 defendants for illegal trading of invoices and tax evasion. He investigated 6 cases with 20 defendants, including initiating new prosecutions in 5 cases with 18 defendants for the crimes of "Illegal trading of invoices" and "Tax evasion". During the investigation, a total of nearly 25 billion VND was recovered, achieving a recovery rate of 83% of the misappropriated funds.

A notable case involves Nguyen Thi Huyen, born in 1979, residing in Dong Van commune, Yen Lac district. Huyen and her accomplices committed the crime of "illegally trading invoices from 2018 to 2022". In this case, Captain Thang was the investigator directly investigating and collecting evidence to handle the case according to the law.

Through his resourcefulness, creativity, and flexible use of professional methods, Captain Thang and his teammates advised the unit's leadership on developing operational plans and strategies, verifying the accuracy of information, and processing documents and evidence to ensure that the suspects could not deny their guilt.

As a result, Captain Le Huy Thang and his team uncovered many sophisticated operational schemes; prosecuting 9 defendants for the crime of "Illegal trading of invoices" with a total of 1,889 illegally traded value-added tax invoices, equivalent to the amount recorded on the invoices of more than 3,900 billion VND.

The investigation process successfully recovered over 10 billion VND (100%) of the misappropriated funds for the state budget. For these achievements, the comrade was awarded a Certificate of Commendation by the Minister of Public Security for outstanding and exceptional performance in his work, contributing to the protection of national security and social order.

In addition to achieving numerous accomplishments in his professional work, Captain Le Huy Thang actively participates in movements and activities at his agency and unit. He is proactive and self-motivated in self-study, research, and improving his experience and knowledge, especially legal knowledge, to serve his professional duties.

Since joining the Provincial Police Department, he has actively participated in implementing many community-oriented programs, contributing to the continuous growth of the Youth Union and youth movement within the Vinh Phuc Provincial Police.

For his outstanding contributions, Captain Le Huy Thang has received numerous titles and awards from various levels and sectors. In particular, in 2024, he was honored to represent the Vinh Phuc Provincial Police in receiving the prestigious title of "Outstanding Young Police Officer Nationwide." This is a well-deserved reward for his tireless efforts and dedication in the fight against crime.

Sharing his thoughts on this achievement, Captain Le Huy Thang expressed gratitude to his comrades who always stood by his side through difficulties and challenges, enabling him to successfully complete his assigned tasks. He affirmed: "This award is not just for me, but for all my comrades. To live up to everyone's trust, I will strive even harder to be worthy of this prestigious title."

Although he has become a shining example for young officers and soldiers in the force to follow, with the motto "Victory without arrogance, defeat without discouragement," Captain Le Huy Thang has been, is, and will continue to dedicate his intellect, health, and youth to protecting the peaceful and happy lives of the people. His spirit, will, and contributions will further enhance the glorious tradition of the heroic Vinh Phuc Public Security force.
