In his opening remarks, Chairman of the Cat Hai District People's Committee Phan Viet Dien introduced the Cat Ba Archipelago, highlighting its unique biodiversity, geomorphology, geology, landscape, and pristine, captivating beauty. Cat Ba boasts several landmarks recognized and awarded prestigious titles by international organizations and the Government, such as: World Biosphere Reserve in 2004, Special National Scenic Site in 2013, and Lan Ha Bay becoming a member of the Association of the Most Beautiful Bays in the World in 2020. Notably, on September 16, 2023, the Cat Ba Archipelago, along with Ha Long Bay, was recognized by UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage Site.

Over the years, Cat Hai district has consistently leveraged its potential and advantages, taking advantage of resources to develop Cat Ba into a national tourist area and an international tourism center, while preserving the marine and island ecosystem.
The Cat Ba Tourism Opening Ceremony 2025 aims to introduce and promote the outstanding and unique potential and strengths of the Cat Ba archipelago - a World Natural Heritage site - to a wide audience of people, domestic and international tourists, contributing to stimulating demand and developing Cat Ba tourism to a new level.

To mark the opening of Cat Ba tourism in 2025, Cat Hai district organized numerous events that attracted the attention and participation of a large number of local people, domestic and international tourists: a mini-football tournament for men; a song, dance, and music performance by workers, farmers, and soldiers; a men's volleyball tournament; and the Cat Ba trade, tourism, and fisheries exhibition.

The highlight of the 2025 Cat Ba tourism opening is the Cat Ba Amatina Marathon 2025 - Heritage Road. Immediately after the opening ceremony, more than 1,500 athletes raced along the unique island-crossing route. With three distances: 21km, 10km, and 5km, athletes experienced traversing picturesque coastal roads, passing through lush green primeval forests, and reaching the most breathtaking viewpoints of the green island of Cat Ba, especially the sunset over Lan Ha Bay.
