On the evening of June 22nd, at the My Long Commune Cultural House, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in coordination with My Long Commune, organized the opening ceremony of the My Long Sea Worship Festival 2026.

Attending the opening ceremony were: Mr. Lam Minh Dang - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; members of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee; representatives of the Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People's Council, and Provincial People's Committee; departments, agencies, and localities; retired officials, businesses, and a large number of people and tourists from inside and outside the province.

In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the People's Committee of My Long Commune, Duong Quang Thap, stated: The My Long Sea Worship Festival is a traditional festival deeply rooted in the cultural identity of the coastal residents, reflecting the beliefs, faith, and folk knowledge of the fishermen. The festival is an opportunity for people to express their gratitude to their ancestors, pray for favorable weather, abundant harvests, and a prosperous and happy life; it also contributes to preserving and promoting traditional cultural values and strengthening community solidarity.
Having developed over more than 100 years, the My Long Sea Worship Festival has become one of the local cultural heritages and was recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2013. Every year, the festival attracts thousands of locals and tourists with many cultural and sporting activities, folk games, and unique traditional rituals such as the procession of the South Sea, the worship of the Soldiers and the God of Agriculture, the main ceremony of the Goddess of the Land, traditional opera, the procession of the Five Directions, and the sending of ships to sea. Through the festival, the locality continues to promote the image of the homeland and people of My Long coastal area, contributing to the development of cultural and spiritual tourism associated with the preservation of traditional heritage values of the coastal community.
Following the opening ceremony, locals and tourists enjoyed a spectacular cultural program featuring dances, modern and traditional songs praising the homeland, the sea, the islands, and the My Long area.

At the opening ceremony, the Organizing Committee presented 25 gifts to disadvantaged households and students in the area.
