Attending the opening ceremony were Party Central Committee Secretary and Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan; Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy, Head of the Steering Committee for the 6th Cham Ethnic Culture Festival; leaders of central ministries, departments and agencies, and Khanh Hoa province. Representing An Giang province were Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Van Phuoc, along with leaders from the Provincial Department of Culture and Sports and the Provincial Department of Tourism.
Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan delivered a welcoming speech at the festival.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan emphasized that Vietnam is a unified nation of 54 ethnic groups. Each ethnic group has its own history, identity, customs, traditions, language, writing system, beliefs, religion, and cultural life, all living together under the roof of Vietnam, contributing to the nurturing of the nation's traditions of patriotism, humanity, solidarity, diligence, creativity, and aspiration for progress.
Among the ethnic groups of Vietnam, the Cham people possess a rich and unique history and cultural life, making significant contributions to the formation, interaction, and development of Vietnamese culture. Cham culture is a treasure trove of tangible and intangible heritage, ranging from religious architectural works and national treasures to ancient texts, festivals such as Katê, Ramưoan, and Ramadan; music with the Ginăng drums, Baranưng drums, and Saranai horns; Bàu Trúc pottery; brocade weaving; traditional clothing embroidery; and many other valuable folk knowledge.

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan requested that all levels, sectors, and localities continue to thoroughly understand the Party and State's guidelines and policies on the development of Vietnamese culture and people, and promote the strength of national unity; comprehensively preserve and promote the cultural values of the Cham ethnic group, and promote the leading role of the Cham people in preserving and transmitting their heritage.
At the same time, research should be conducted on solutions for applying science and technology, promoting the role of influential figures, dignitaries, officials, and artisans in preserving cultural heritage; linking cultural preservation and promotion with socio-economic development, and improving the material and spiritual lives of the people.
Chairman of the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province, Nguyen Viet Hung, delivered the opening speech at the festival.
In his opening remarks at the festival, the Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province, Nguyen Viet Hung, stated that with the theme "Preserving and promoting the cultural identity of the Cham ethnic group in the new era," the festival contributes to achieving the goal of building a healthy cultural environment; promoting heritage values associated with traditional education and fostering national pride; strengthening exchanges and solidarity among localities and ethnic communities; and effectively exploiting cultural values to serve the development of tourism and the cultural industry.
Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy, along with Mr. Nguyen Long Bien, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province, presented certificates of commendation to 7 outstanding artisans.
At the opening ceremony, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan presented gifts to the localities participating in the festival; the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism awarded certificates of merit to 7 outstanding artisans who have made excellent achievements in preserving and promoting the traditional culture of the Cham people.
The artistic performances "Brilliant Colors of Cham Culture" at the opening ceremony.
The highlight of the program is the art performance "The Dazzling Colors of Cham Culture," consisting of three parts: "Legends of the Cham People," "The Quintessence of Cham Culture," and "The Cham People in the Flow of the Nation," recreating the historical and cultural process of the Cham people.
The 6th Cham Ethnic Culture Festival, taking place from June 26th to 28th, 2026, is an opportunity to honor the unique cultural values and traditional sports preserved and passed down through generations by the Cham community; it also creates a space for exchange, meeting, and strengthening solidarity among localities with large Cham populations.
