On June 27th, the Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho City inaugurated the Can Tho Durian Buffet Week 2026 at the Muong Thanh Luxury Can Tho Hotel.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Ha Vu Son, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho City, stated that this is a key activity aimed at implementing the city's People's Committee's policy of proactively promoting trade and supporting the linkage of consumption of key local agricultural products during the peak harvest season.
Beyond being just a typical trade promotion activity, the event is a multi-valued, integrated solution model that operates in a synchronized manner.
This includes extending the value chain through advanced processing technology with a buffet menu featuring fresh durian and nearly 20 dishes made from durian such as durian jelly, durian pumpkin dessert, durian crepe, durian flattened rice cakes, etc. At the same time, the durian buffet week also connects trade with stimulating experiential tourism .
"Organizing livestreaming at the event helps cut down on intermediary costs, directly connecting farmers with consumers on a smart postal and logistics platform," Mr. Son emphasized.
The Can Tho Durian Buffet Week 2026 will take place on June 27-28 and July 4-5.
The area planted with durian in Can Tho City is approximately 14,483 hectares, of which nearly 10,000 hectares are producing fruit. The estimated production for 2026 is around 125,000 tons. The area of durian plantations with registered planting area codes is approximately 2,704 hectares, accounting for nearly 20% of the total durian planting area in Can Tho City.
