The 76th edition of the Cannes International Film Festival opened on May 16th and will run until May 27th. With a total of 52 films selected for premiere, the Cannes Film Festival promises to offer audiences a high-quality cinematic experience, featuring the standout blockbusters of the 2023 summer film season.

Dubbed " the world's most glamorous international film festival," Cannes 2023 features hundreds of renowned stars, the latest films being screened, and prestigious awards...

This year, many special things are converging at this prestigious film event. The 2023 Cannes Film Festival will mark the first time it is chaired by a woman – Iris Knobloch (former CEO of WarnerMedia). It will also be the first time there are six female directors on the shortlist for the Palme d'Or.

Scott Roxborough, a critic for Hollywood Reporter, commented: "Cannes isn't just the biggest, most spectacular event. It's absolutely superior in every respect. Basically, the red carpet here is bigger and more glamorous than any other red carpet in the world. It also brings together more stars and blockbusters. In terms of cinematic artistry, Cannes is also the best film festival in the world. They've managed to bring together the most extravagant and glamorous blockbusters from Hollywood while continuing to explore the talents of the most exciting new filmmakers from around the globe."

The film "Jeanne du Barry," starring Johnny Depp in the lead role, opened this year's Cannes Film Festival. This was followed by a series of highly anticipated films such as "Asteroid City," "Killers of the Flower Moon," "La Chimera," and "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny"...

Notably, the list of films competing for the Palme d'Or at Cannes 2023 includes Vietnamese-born director Tran Anh Hung with his new work "La Passion de Dodin Bouffant" (The Passion of Dodin Bouffant's Cuisine ). Meanwhile, director Pham Thien An has the honor of being the only representative of Vietnamese cinema participating in the Directors Fortnight program at the Cannes Film Festival 2023 with his film "Inside the Yellow Cocoon Shell". This is also the feature film debut of screenwriter and director Pham Thien An.

After winning an Oscar, veteran actress Michelle Yeoh was further honored at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival with the Women in Motion 2023 award. This is an individual award within the framework of the Cannes Film Festival, established in 2015 to honor female artists who have made significant contributions to the art of world cinema.

Prior to Michelle Yeoh, another Asian actress, Gong Li, won this award in 2019. Experts believe that Michelle Yeoh's recognition at this year's Cannes Film Festival will have a significant impact on the rise of feminism and Asian cinema.
