The successive, devastating floods in late October and early November 2025 left horrific "scars" on the hill behind A Dieu village. Many large cracks, some extending up to 500 meters, are silently widening after each rain, ready to swallow up the entire hillside.

Arriving in A Dieu village, Dong Giang commune this morning, March 31st, a reporter from the People's Police Newspaper clearly felt the anxiety of the local people regarding the landslide situation. Among the 60 households living in the dangerous area, some families have had to endure the hardship of being separated from their own homes.
Ms. Bơloong Tý (residing in A Điêu village), standing in front of her house at the foot of the collapsing hill, shared in a state of shock: “During last year’s heavy rains and floods, the hill behind the village collapsed, burying the houses of the villagers. We had to evacuate to relatives’ houses or the community center for temporary shelter. Now, whenever it rains, no one in my family dares to sleep. Looking at the cracks on the hill widening, we are afraid the earth will collapse at any moment. We, the people, hope that the authorities will soon implement resettlement so that we can feel secure and have stable new homes.”
Sharing the same plight, Mrs. Arâl Chượt gazed towards the hilltop with a heavy heart, for the mountain that had protected her village for so long had suddenly become a constant threat. According to Mrs. Chượt, some households had even been forced to dismantle their entire houses – the most valuable asset in a person's life – in exchange for their safety.
Recognizing the extreme danger posed by the weak soil and steep slopes at A Dieu, on January 23, 2026, the Da Nang City People's Committee officially issued Decision No. 368/QD-UBND, declaring a state of emergency due to natural disaster. This is a crucial legal step, confirming that the relocation of residents cannot be delayed any further.
Subsequently, the Dong Giang commune authorities surveyed and selected a plot of land in the CLung Gươl A Póoc area, specifically in parcel 5, sub-area 137, approximately 1km from the landslide-affected A Điêu village, to serve as a resettlement area. With an area of nearly 3,000m2, this area boasts high ground, stable structure, and a well-planned infrastructure. More importantly, this location possesses all the necessary elements for residents to settle down and prosper, with convenient access to electricity, water, and transportation infrastructure, facilitating comprehensive investment.

Speaking with a reporter from the People's Police Newspaper, Mr. Coor Le, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Giang commune, said that the estimated cost for the A Dieu village resettlement area is approximately 33 billion VND. “We have selected good land, and the people are ready to relocate. Now we just hope the city will soon approve and allocate emergency funds. Only when the people are living in their new homes at CLung Gươl A Póoc can the authorities breathe a sigh of relief, no longer worrying about landslides threatening their lives,” Mr. Coor Le expressed.
From the reality, it can be affirmed that the reconstruction of the landslide-affected A Dieu village is not just a story about compensation or construction, but a test of responsibility and humanity in the face of natural disasters. As the 2026 rainy season approaches, the "scars" on A Dieu hill are still "bleeding," reminding us that: Delaying even one day means putting people's lives at the mercy of the "enemy of natural disasters."
