Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and leaders of ministries, departments, and localities performed the inauguration ceremony of the Phu Son Waste-to-Energy Plant.

The Phu Son Waste-to-Energy Plant project is invested by EB Environmental Energy Co., Ltd. The project commenced on November 16, 2021, with a total investment of US$74.55 million (approximately VND 1,700 billion), covering an area of approximately 11.2 hectares. It has a processing capacity of 600 tons of municipal solid waste per day, a 12MW turbine generator, and a post-processing landfill rate.

On behalf of the provincial leadership, Mr. Phan Quy Phuong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, commended the efforts of the investor, experts, workers of EB Environmental Energy Co., Ltd. and contractors for focusing all resources, overcoming all difficulties, especially during the two years of the COVID-19 pandemic, to complete the project on schedule and ensure quality.

Provincial leaders consider the Phu Son Waste-to-Energy Plant a key project for the province. Once operational, the plant will receive all solid household waste from 6 out of 9 localities, including Hue City, Huong Thuy and Huong Tra towns, and Phu Vang, Phu Loc, and Nam Dong districts, generating approximately over 500 tons per day (accounting for nearly 90% of the province's household waste). This waste will be processed using incineration technology to generate electricity, replacing landfilling. This will fundamentally solve the problem of household waste treatment throughout the province using advanced technology and protecting the environment.

Along with the effective implementation of the "Green Sunday" movement, the "Act to make Thua Thien Hue greener, cleaner, and brighter" campaign, and the sorting of solid waste at source, the commissioning of the Phu Son waste-to-energy plant will create a new look for the environmental and urban landscape, contributing to the early achievement of the goal of building Thua Thien Hue province into a centrally-governed city based on the preservation and promotion of the heritage values of the ancient capital and the cultural identity of Hue, with its distinctive culture, heritage, ecology, landscape, environmental friendliness, and smart features. In the future, the investor operating the plant is requested to fully comply with all regulations, especially those regarding safety and environmental protection as stipulated by law.
