The fruits of building new rural areas.

Visiting Yen Son commune these days, it's easy to see that many previously narrow roads have now been paved and widened. The phrase "livable countryside" is no longer unfamiliar to the people here.

A prime example is the road through Mai Thuong village (Yen Son commune), which was completed and put into use at the beginning of 2024 with a width of 6 meters, double that of before. This result was achieved because the people themselves voluntarily moved their fences back to give way to the local authorities for road construction without anyone thinking about compensation.

As one of the households that voluntarily demolished 50 meters of their fence and donated over 100 square meters of land to widen the road, Mr. Tran Van Duoc (Mai Thuong village) shared: "Previously, this road was narrow, making it difficult for vehicles to pass each other. Therefore, when the plan to widen the road was announced, we residents were very happy. Without being asked, all the houses along the road were ready to donate land, demolish their fences, and rebuild them with their own funds, so that we could have a wider road for easier travel."

For Mr. Duoc, donating land for road construction not only facilitates transportation but also opens up economic development opportunities for his descendants. "Expanding the road network brings benefits in every way; travel becomes smoother and safer," Mr. Duoc said with a smile.

According to Mr. Tran Van Be, because the road was narrow, only wide enough for agricultural vehicles, the cost of construction materials used to be very expensive. But since the road was widened, even large trucks can reach the construction site, so prices have become much cheaper. In particular, traders can come to buy and sell goods more easily, and the local economy is developing steadily.

Understanding the value that the New Rural Development Program brings, shortly after its implementation, the people of Yen Son commune donated over 2,000 square meters of land to expand and upgrade rural roads. These wide roads are like a breath of fresh air, contributing to improving the working conditions and living standards of the people here.

Yen Son Kindergarten has been newly built with 12 classrooms and other functional rooms, at a total cost of over 25 billion VND.

In addition to donating land for roads, the people of Yen Son commune have also cooperated with the local government to effectively carry out land clearance for the construction of school infrastructure, contributing to improving the quality of education .

Although compensation funds have not yet been allocated, 24 households in Noi Dinh village are ready to hand over cleared land for the construction of Yen Son kindergarten. Mr. Duong Van Can shared that after being informed by commune officials and for the future of their children, the villagers were very enthusiastic and readily agreed to hand over the land so that their children could soon have a new, modern school to study in.

By leveraging available resources and employing effective community mobilization efforts, 100% of rural roads in Yen Son commune have now been paved, and schools in the area have been invested in and built to a high standard.

Determined to achieve the goal of advanced new rural development.

According to the plan for building new rural areas in Bac Giang province, Yen Son commune (Luc Nam district) is one of 12 communes to achieve advanced new rural area status in 2024. Accordingly, from the beginning of the year, the People's Committee of Yen Son commune promptly issued documents and organized conferences and meetings to implement the plan.

To date, Yen Son commune has completed 16 out of 19 criteria for advanced new rural communes, achieving 84.21%. Three criteria remain unmet: Education; Organization of production and rural economic development; and Quality of living environment. Additionally, three criteria need to be maintained, strengthened, and upgraded: Transportation; Cultural infrastructure; and Environment.

To achieve the goal of meeting advanced new rural standards in 2024, the Party Committee and People's Committee of Yen Son commune are currently focusing on directing and mobilizing all resources to invest in completing and improving the quality of the criteria.

Mr. Nguyen Van Truyen, Chairman of the People's Committee of Yen Son commune, said: During the implementation process, officials, team members, union members, and all the people have always actively responded, especially in the construction of rural infrastructure projects such as "electricity, roads, schools, and health stations"; the movement to clear traffic corridors, eliminate overgrown gardens, develop production, and build model residential areas has been strongly and thoroughly implemented.

"The secret to the success of building new rural areas in Yen Son commune is, first and foremost, focusing on raising awareness among families of officials and Party members to set an example. Especially, our flexible approach to persuasion has gradually led to people becoming more open and willing to contribute their labor and resources, determined to work together to build a more prosperous and beautiful Yen Son," Mr. Truyen added.
