With the aim of improving the quality of commercial services, ensuring the landscape and environmental hygiene, and addressing the needs of nighttime business and trade, as well as creating a destination for sightseeing and experiences for locals and tourists visiting the area, the People's Committee of Quyet Thang Ward (Kon Tum City) began constructing the Kon Tum Culinary Culture Space in May 2024.

The Kon Tum Culinary Culture Space was built with a total investment of over 900 million VND, comprising 51 stalls and covering an area of approximately 5,100 square meters in the Bach Dang area (belonging to Residential Group 2, Quyet Thang Ward). The space features greenery, paved internal pathways, a children's play area, parking, and restrooms.

The food and beverage stalls inside the Kon Tum Culinary Culture Space are constructed primarily from environmentally friendly materials, featuring elegant colors and a modular design for easy disassembly. The Kon Tum Culinary Culture Space opens at 5:00 PM the day before and closes before 5:00 AM the following day.

During the construction of the Kon Tum Culinary Culture Space, the People's Committee of Quyet Thang Ward established a Management Team; issued a plan to ensure food safety and hygiene, environmental sanitation management, and fire prevention and control; and invested in electricity and water systems. At the same time, they organized campaigns to encourage stall owners to conduct business in accordance with their registered business lines and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Efforts to promote civilized and cultured communication and behavior within the Kon Tum Culinary Culture Space are also being emphasized.

Following a period of construction, on March 14, 2025, the People's Committee of Quyet Thang Ward held the opening ceremony of the Kon Tum Culinary Culture Space. At the ceremony, a large number of officials, residents, and tourists came to visit and enjoy traditional food, drinks, and specialties from various regions.

Mr. Luong Duc Chi, a household registered to do business at the Kon Tum Culinary Culture Space, shared that his stall sells food and drinks mainly made from ingredients produced by people in Kon Tum city.

“Personally, I strongly support the initiative to build the Kon Tum Culinary Culture Space, as it has created opportunities for us small traders to have a place to do business and earn extra income. Customers who visit my stall have shared that they feel comfortable because the space is airy and lively,” Mr. Chi said.

Since its opening, the Kon Tum Culinary Culture Space has welcomed many locals and tourists in the evenings. Especially on weekend evenings, it becomes lively with musical performances.

At the Kon Tum Culinary Culture Space, in addition to recreation, relaxation, and enjoying the cuisine, locals and tourists also consume alcoholic beverages, posing potential risks to public order and traffic safety. To prevent, detect, and promptly handle any incidents, and to protect the property and health of registered businesses, locals, and tourists, local authorities have implemented a coordinated plan to ensure security and order at the Kon Tum Culinary Culture Space.

Major Tran Van Thai, Head of the Quyet Thang Ward Police, said that the ward police, in coordination with the Ward Military Command and the Urban Order Management Team, have developed a plan for joint patrols, deployed forces on duty 24/7, and installed a security camera system at the Culinary Culture Space. In addition, functional forces have encouraged businesses to equip themselves with portable fire extinguishers and have educated people visiting the Culinary Culture Space to comply with regulations on security, traffic safety, and fire prevention.

According to Ms. Huynh Thi Ly Ly, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quyet Thang Ward, the Kon Tum Culinary Culture Space currently has 25 registered businesses with a total of 51 stalls. This place is not only a destination for enjoying local cuisine but also a bridge to preserve and promote cultural identity, boost economic and tourism development, connect the community, and create an environment for people to meet and learn about local food.

“In the coming time, the People's Committee of Quyet Thang ward will strengthen the promotion and introduction of the Kon Tum Culinary Culture Space, focusing on building an image of a professional and friendly food area, organizing many entertainment activities and creating conditions for ethnic minority people to participate in business and introduce traditional dishes,” Ms. Ly added.
