Agricultural production in Kim Bon has recently shifted towards crop diversification, increased productivity, and expansion of key crops. By 2025, the total cultivated area in the commune reached 2,116 hectares, exceeding the plan by 106%. New crops such as ginger, bananas, cardamom, and bamboo shoots are providing a stable source of income, contributing to the gradual formation of a raw material area linked to processing. In particular, the 32 hectares of macadamia trees planted as a pilot project in the villages of Suoi On, Suoi Kenh, and Suoi Vach are showing promising results, with 12 hectares already yielding harvests, opening up a promising direction for the development of long-term industrial crops.

Kim Bon was established by merging two communes, Kim Bon and Da Do. After the merger, the commune covers an area of 104 km², with over 1,700 households of Mong, Dao, and Muong ethnic minorities. Mr. Ngo Duc Duong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Kim Bon commune, said: The locality faced difficulties due to sloping, infertile land; cultivating corn and upland rice using old methods resulted in low yields. In response to this, the commune focused on guiding people to apply new techniques, diversify crop structures, and strengthen disease prevention and control and livestock protection. Despite the unpredictable weather, thanks to proactive and flexible measures, Kim Bon still ensured its agricultural production targets last year. To date, the poverty rate in the commune has decreased to 26.94%.

Recognizing that building new rural areas is a key, long-term task, Kim Bon commune has mobilized the collective efforts of the entire political system and the people, leveraging internal resources and mobilizing external resources to build new rural areas. To date, the commune has achieved 7 out of 19 criteria, with notable achievements in irrigation, electricity, information and communication, employment, education, and national defense and security. Prioritizing transportation development, many roads in Kim Bon are currently under construction, such as the Da Do - Kim Bon route, Bai Vang - Lien Hop route, and Suoi Vach - Suoi Tieu route. Upon completion, these transportation routes will facilitate the transport of agricultural products and promote the local economy.

The Suoi On hamlet is a shining example of new rural development in Kim Bon district. Vang A Lu, Party Secretary and Head of the hamlet, shared: “We determined that the most important thing is to change the people's perception of new rural development. Cadres and Party members must set a good example and lead the way to build trust and spread the message to the people. To date, the more than 4-kilometer road from the commune headquarters to the hamlet has been concreted thanks to funding from the National Target Program for socio -economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, making transportation easier and facilitating the transport of agricultural products for the villagers.”

Along with economic development, Kim Bon commune pays special attention to building a cultural life. The "All People Unite to Build a Cultural Life" movement has been widely implemented. By 2025, the commune aims to have 1,138 households achieving the title of "Cultural Family," reaching a rate of 64.6%; 6 out of 13 villages achieving the title of "Cultural Village," 13 football teams, and 13 performing arts groups maintaining regular activities. Many traditional sports, such as crossbow shooting, stick pushing, and tug-of-war, are preserved and promoted during festivals and holidays, contributing to the preservation of the cultural identity of ethnic groups. Significant achievements have been made in education and public health care, and social security continues to be ensured.
