Cai Luong artist Kim Tieu Long makes a music video titled "Divorce," evoking the pain of a past failed marriage.

The 50-year-old singer said that during the recording and filming of the music video , he cried many times because he felt sorry for the main character in the song - a child who suffers separation after his parents' divorce. The song resonated with him, reminding him of his own situation. More than 10 years ago, he broke up with his girlfriend after seven years together, and his son has lived with his mother ever since.

"This song is for myself, about the difficult times I went through in both my career and my love life. I want to send a message to young people: Before deciding to divorce, think carefully, put your ego aside and think about your children," he said at the MV launch event on the afternoon of April 14th in Ho Chi Minh City.

After his second marriage, Kim Tieu Long now lives a private life with his wife and son in the US. For the past two years, he has frequently traveled between the US and Vietnam due to weekly invitations from domestic show promoters. His wife and son, nine-year-old Kim Dai Phuoc, are a great source of encouragement, helping him relieve pressure. Although she works in a profession unrelated to the arts, she is skilled at managing finances , helping him overcome many difficulties in his work.

The film "Divorce," which is over 15 minutes long, tells the story of a poor couple who once lived happily with their elderly mother and young child. Due to material temptations, their relationship gradually deteriorated, leading to divorce. They went their separate ways, leaving their son, Long (Tin Tin), to be raised by his grandmother (Phượng Loan). Growing up and achieving success in his career, Long (Kim Tiểu Long) decides not to forgive his parents, treating them as strangers.

Having previously performed together on the Cai Luong (Vietnamese traditional opera) stage, Kim Tieu Long and Phuong Loan are now acting together in a music video for the first time. Upon reading the script, he immediately suggested that the director invite Phuong Loan because he admired her acting style and singing voice. In the music video, the artist contributes her voice to many lullabies in scenes depicting her struggling to raise her nephew alone. Kim Tieu Long also invited Tin Tin – a former child prodigy from a game show – because he believed the boy had a knack for acting tragic roles. In real life, Tin Tin's circumstances are similar to the character; his parents separated when the young actor was only two years old.

After winning the Tran Huu Trang Award for promising talent in 2003, the artist became a star in the traditional music genre in the 2000s, winning a gold medal at the 2004 National Professional Cai Luong Theatre Festival. Kim Tieu Long also sang and acted in films with works such as "The Wandering Singer," "After the Beauty Queen," "The Piano Sound in the Rain," and "Career Guidance ." In October 2022, he won a silver medal at the Hanoi Theatre Festival with the play "Royal Power - The Case of Tong Thi Quyen ."
