The closure of airspace following the attack on Kuwait International Airport was a response to what the country's authorities described as an act of aggression by Iran the previous night.
The Kuwait Civil Aviation Authority (PACA) has announced a temporary suspension of air operations and flights following the attack that caused casualties and damage at Kuwait International Airport on June 3. A PACA official said flights were being diverted to other airports while authorities assess the situation and work to ensure the safety of passengers and aviation infrastructure.
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Defence later confirmed that "hostile" drones had attacked Terminal 1 of Kuwait International Airport, injuring several people and causing damage to property and lives.
Kuwaiti Defense Ministry spokesman General Saud Al-Atwan said that at least one person was killed in a drone attack on the airport, while several others were injured and taken to hospital. He said in a statement that the injured received necessary medical care, according to a report by the Kuwait News Agency.

He added that the attack damaged the passenger building and disrupted airport operations. The Kuwaiti armed forces are closely monitoring the situation, coordinating with relevant authorities while security agencies respond to the incident.
The Kuwait Civil Aviation Authority reiterated that air traffic had been suspended and flights diverted to other airports following the attack on the airport terminal.
The attack occurred after Iran ceased contact with mediators regarding an extension of the ceasefire in its war with the United States.
Kuwait Airways said passengers on flights affected by the suspension of operations and airspace closures can rebook their tickets free of charge.
Numerous international flights were affected by the closure of Kuwaiti airspace. A number of aircraft were diverted and avoided Kuwaiti airspace following the Iranian missile and drone attack on Kuwait International Airport on the morning of June 3rd (local time). Flight tracking data shows that many flights were diverted and avoided Kuwaiti airspace from around 4:00 AM (GMT, or 11:00 AM on June 3rd in Vietnam time).
Earlier, the US military said Iran had fired two missiles and a drone at Kuwait and three more missiles at Bahrain, but they were intercepted.
