The EJU (Examination for Japanese University Admission) is an exam designed to assess the necessary Japanese language proficiency and basic knowledge level of international students wishing to study at Japanese universities.
Previously, international students wishing to study in Japan had to take two exams that many Japanese universities required them to take: the "Japanese Language Proficiency Test" and the "Examination for Self-Funded Foreign Students". Since 2002, the Examination for Japanese University Admission (EJU) has replaced these two exams and is held both inside and outside Japan, twice a year (in June and November).
By taking the EJU exam, students do not need to travel to Japan to take the test, and their results are widely recognized by Japanese universities. Currently, more than 900 Japanese universities use EJU exam results for admissions.
In addition, JASSO (Japan Student Services Organization) also offers scholarships of 48,000 Yen/month to high-achieving students in the Japan University Entrance Examination.
Normally, the scholarship period is one year, but for candidates taking the EJU exam abroad, it is possible to apply for an extension of the scholarship for the entire duration of their studies if they achieve certain academic results at their current school. This is a special privilege reserved for candidates taking the EJU exam abroad.
How to participate:
Candidates choose their exam subjects from the following list, according to the requirements of the university they wish to apply to.

The language used in the exam is either Japanese or English. (For the Japanese exam, the questions will be in Japanese only).
The Japanese language exam consists of both multiple-choice and essay questions. The Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, and Mathematics exams are all multiple-choice.
