Established in March 1872, Yellowstone National Park is not only the first national park in the United States but also the oldest in the world . Yellowstone also holds the title of the largest national park globally, covering nearly 9,000 square kilometers.

Yellowstone spans three states—Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho—in the central United States, with 96% of its area belonging to Wyoming.

The name Yellowstone simply means "yellow stone," stemming from the park's geographical location upstream of a river that Native American hunters in the late 18th century called the Yellow Stone River. Another theory suggests the park's name was derived from the presence of numerous yellow rocks in the Grand Canyon area.

Special appeal

The majestic natural landscape, towering ancient forests, continuously flowing hot springs, and fresh air make the vast Yellowstone area incredibly attractive. It's no surprise that over 4 million visitors come here each year, according to the travel website roadgenius.com.

What makes Yellowstone National Park special is that it was once home to one of the largest active volcanoes on the planet, creating many spectacular geological landscapes. The first eruption, over 2 million years ago, created Huckleberry Ridge Valley. The second eruption, 1 million years ago, created Island Park Valley, and the final eruption, over 600,000 years ago, created the Lava Creek Tuff area.

Due to the influence of volcanic eruptions and its unique geological structure, Yellowstone has hundreds of hot springs, the most famous of which is the Old Faithful geyser, which shoots up to 45 meters high every 70 minutes. This strange and spectacular phenomenon has remained unchanged for thousands of years.

To ensure the safety of visitors, seismic activity from the volcano is closely monitored by scientists and park management staff.

The United States began implementing natural heritage conservation efforts very early on, with Yellowstone National Park being a prime example. To this day, the world's leading economy continues to maintain heritage conservation activities based on the national park and World Heritage site model.

With its vast green prairies, towering mountain ranges, and rich wildlife, Yellowstone National Park rightfully deserves to be considered one of North America's best nature conservation areas.

Yellowstone wasn't recognized as a national park for no reason; it's home to a vast array of animal species, including 300 bird species, 70 mammal species, 20 fish species, and some endangered species such as the bobcat, gray wolf, grizzly bear, and moose.

Yellowstone National Park also boasts a diverse plant life, including 1,700 species of trees, of which conifers account for 80%, including eight rare conifer species, as well as many flowering plants and verbena.

Along with its diverse ecosystem, Yellowstone also boasts approximately 300 geysers and over 10,000 characteristic geothermal features such as vents, geysers, and mud pits. These areas are home to numerous thermophilic microorganisms, creating vibrant, natural color patches that are incredibly attractive to visitors.

Yellowstone boasts an incredibly diverse ecosystem, but several wildfires in recent years have impacted the natural landscape, negatively affecting plant and animal species. The U.S. government has implemented numerous measures and policies to support the protection of endangered animal species and rare plants in the area.

A different experience

Today, Yellowstone is one of the largest national parks in the United States, preserving the best flora and fauna, and is a very popular tourist destination for nature lovers.

Within Yellowstone's nearly 9,000 square kilometers, visitors have a fantastic opportunity to observe wildlife in its pristine ecosystem, explore geothermal areas containing about half of the world's active geysers, and admire geological wonders such as the Yellowstone Grand Canyon.

One of the experiences that tourists often participate in here is camping. It's a truly "Yo Most" feeling to immerse yourself in the fresh air of nature, witness majestic landscapes firsthand, and observe wild animals like grizzly bears or moose in their natural habitat...

Additionally, visitors can hike the Grand Prismatic Trail, enjoy a leisurely horse-drawn carriage ride, cycle along lush green paths, or go boating on Yellowstone Lake – the largest freshwater lake in North America.

Visiting Yellowstone in each season offers a different perspective on the culture and nature of this renowned national park. Planning a Yellowstone trip awaits outdoor enthusiasts in the USA...
