On nearly 5 hectares of pond and rice paddy land, since his youth, Mr. Ninh has raised fish, shrimp, goats, pigs, waterfowl, and currently, he raises the Ri Mia chicken breed, which he considers the most effective among all the breeds he has experienced.
Mr. Ninh chose to raise the Son Tay free-range chicken breed because its meat is firm, sweet, and low in fat. Furthermore, this breed has good resistance to disease, a very high survival rate of up to 95%, and rarely suffers from common illnesses, saving on veterinary costs. The hens lay eggs quite consistently, averaging 100-120 eggs per year.
Mr. Ninh believes that several factors are crucial in chicken farming: the construction of the coop, the nutritional regime, and disease prevention. At his farm, Mr. Ninh designs well-ventilated coops with sufficient light and air circulation to create an ideal living environment for the chickens. Regarding feed, he prioritizes natural foods such as corn, rice, green vegetables, and bran to promote healthy growth, supplementing with protein-rich foods from insects and worms. He raises the chickens on a large area of land, providing clean water and changing it regularly. Importantly, he ensures the chickens receive all necessary vaccinations, considering this essential for the survival of his flock. He explains that the Ri Mia chicken breed inherently possesses strong antibodies. Furthermore, they are vaccinated against diseases from birth; therefore, while other chicken breeds may be sensitive to weather changes and pathogens, the Ri Mia breed overcomes these challenges. Thus, with low investment costs and simple breeding techniques, the Ri Mia chicken breed is chosen by households and small farms for raising.

Currently, Mr. Ninh raises an average of 30,000 chickens per year. Using a staggered breeding system, he sells his flock 5-6 times a year. With the current average selling price of 80,000-90,000 VND/kg, Mr. Ninh earns a profit of 15,000-20,000 VND per chicken. Mr. Ninh explains: Besides the good breed, the free-range farming method, primarily feeding on natural food, results in sweet and flavorful chicken meat. While other chickens raised in confinement (in cages) are dependent on market demand and sometimes difficult to sell, his free-range chickens consistently sell out, with many restaurants and eateries placing orders in advance, making them long-standing customers of his farm.
In addition to his main income from selling commercial broiler chickens in batches, Mr. Ninh also earns a small daily income from chicken eggs. This steady income helps cover the cost of feed and supplies for raising chickens, as well as ensuring his family's daily living expenses. He confidently reinvests the larger profits from the chickens to expand production.
Currently, Mr. Ninh is gradually carrying out the procedures to convert a portion of his agricultural land to construction land according to state regulations so that he can build, renovate, and upgrade his poultry farm to a more modern scale, aiming to increase the total number of chickens and meet market demand.
