Making a living through technology.

Once accustomed to toiling in the fields, women in Dak Lak today are not only skilled in production but also adept at closing deals, livestreaming, and managing businesses on digital platforms. Technology is becoming a powerful tool, helping women manage and develop production and business, enabling them to prosper in their homeland.

Change your mindset and your way of doing things.

Previously, when people thought of women in business , they often pictured small-scale trading in traditional markets or complete dependence on traders buying directly from farms and gardens, resulting in products being entirely dependent on middlemen and unstable prices. However, in recent years, the digital transformation wave has reached rural villages, making business and trading for women no longer passive. They utilize social media platforms like Facebook and Zalo as effective promotional tools, proactively bringing their products to e-commerce platforms.

Ms. Cao Thi Ly (Dlie Ya commune) shared: “My family has nearly 2 hectares of land planted with coffee intercropped with pepper, durian, and avocado. Previously, during harvest season, I would often take the produce to the market or wait for traders to come and buy it, which resulted in me being forced to accept low prices. In recent years, I've learned how to create videos introducing my products and take photos to post on Facebook and Zalo. Selling directly without intermediaries helps me get better, more stable prices, and the money goes straight into my account, eliminating worries about debt.”

Many women in community-based tourism villages have learned to use social media for marketing, welcoming guests for room bookings and cultural experiences through online platforms; introducing local specialties and traditional cuisine, attracting a large number of tourists to come and enjoy them. Similarly, businesses from home to traditional markets, from small vegetable stalls to meat and fish vendors... everyone is using cashless payments.

Ms. H' Nưn Mlô (Buôn Hồ ward) and her sisters in Tring 2 village opened a traditional Êđê ethnic restaurant. Every day, she introduces the dishes on her Facebook and Zalo pages, so many people know about it and come to enjoy the food. Furthermore, her restaurant accepts QR code payments for the convenience of both the owner and the customers.

Elevating agricultural products

Instead of operating on a small scale or through traditional channels, many women have boldly established cooperatives and businesses, conducting business on digital platforms.

In 2019, Ms. Pham Thi Bich Thuy (Dong Hoa ward) decided to start a business with products made from lotus plants. After successful trials, she persuaded seven households to establish the Dong Hoa Lotus Agricultural and Service Cooperative. This was a crucial turning point, marking a shift from fragmented production to a professional cooperative model.

Driven by the aspiration to elevate agricultural products, the cooperative has boldly invested in machinery and equipment for processing. From the initial raw lotus seeds, through innovative thinking, the cooperative's product range has expanded to include many high-quality products such as lotus seed powder (certified OCOP 3-star), dried lotus seeds, lotus root powder, lotus heart tea, lotus leaf tea, etc. Each product undergoes a rigorous quality control process, from cleaning to drying at standard temperatures.

Ms. Thuy also boldly brought agricultural products to the "digital space"; directly promoting and selling through TikTok, Facebook, Zalo, and the cooperative's website. This strategy not only shortens the distance from the lotus pond to the consumer but also optimizes costs, helping Dong Hoa lotus products dominate the market in major cities nationwide.

In Buon Ho ward, Dak Lak Macca Co., Ltd. is not only famous for its modern production process but also loved for its diverse product range. As one of the co-founders, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Tham, Deputy Director of the company, shared that the business always prioritizes product quality, from seed selection and harvesting to processing. Every process is strictly controlled to ensure that macadamia nuts retain their natural flavor and highest nutritional value, providing complete customer satisfaction.

To bring macadamia products to a wider range of customers both domestically and internationally, Ms. Tham and her company members have launched macadamia products on e-commerce platforms and digital marketplaces, while also selling directly through livestreaming events. In 2025, the company's macadamia products achieved OCOP 4-star certification. Currently, the company's macadamia products are sold in many major cities nationwide and exported to Japan and the Netherlands.

The increasing proactive application of technology by women in Dak Lak is not just about income; it's also a testament to the dynamism, creativity, and ambition of women. In the digital age, where geographical distances are erased with a single touch, women are gradually asserting their position, becoming key factors in promoting sustainable local economic development.
