Drinking plenty of water is a good way to prevent urinary tract infections in the summer.

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are the most common type of UTI, occurring when bacteria enter the urinary tract and cause inflammation. Kidney stones occur when minerals such as calcium and uric acid become more concentrated in the urine.

Meanwhile, Cystitis is a condition in which harmful bacteria multiply in the bladder and cause inflammation.

To avoid urinary tract problems, people need to adopt the following methods:

Drink enough water.

Drinking enough water is essential during hot weather. Not drinking enough water can lead to dehydration, making urine more concentrated, thereby increasing the risk of urinary tract infections and kidney stones.

To prevent this, people need to drink at least 2 liters of water per day. Depending on individual physical condition, health problems, and activity level, more water may be needed.

Avoid caffeine and alcohol.

Beverages such as coffee, tea, and alcoholic drinks have diuretic effects, leading to increased water excretion from the body and making dehydration easier. Therefore, health experts recommend limiting consumption of these items. If you do drink them, be sure to replenish fluids appropriately.

Practice good hygiene.

Good hygiene is also a very important step in preventing urinary tract problems in the summer. For example, after swimming in the sea or a pool, people should shower with fresh water to avoid irritation of the urinary tract from salt, sand, or chlorine.

Avoid using chemical products in the genital area as they can disrupt the natural balance of bacteria and increase the risk of urinary tract infections.

In cases of urinary tract infections, in addition to medication, several home remedies can be applied. One of the most effective is increasing vitamin C intake. Vitamin C makes urine more acidic, helping to kill bacteria and prevent urinary tract infections, according to Medical News Today.
