Alonso made many adjustments at Real Madrid. |
Marca reported that during a training session on June 19, in preparation for the second round of group stage matches of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™, Alonso deployed a drone to film his players' training sessions. This was the first time the former Bayer Leverkusen coach had used this technology, unlike his time in charge of the German team, where he relied heavily on traditional video analysis.
The use of drones provides aerial views, allowing Real Madrid's coaching staff to analyse tactical movements, player positions, and team formations in greater detail.
Alonso, who took over at Real Madrid in June 2025 after a successful spell at Leverkusen, said he wanted to use technology to improve coaching. “Drones give us a new perspective, helping us understand how players move and interact on the pitch,” he told Marca .
This is especially important as Real Madrid prepare to face strong opponents at the FIFA Club World Cup, where every little detail could be decisive. Coaches like Pep Guardiola have experimented with drones before, but for Alonso, this is the first bold move of his career.
