In recent years, the mass cultural and artistic movement in Tan Son district has been vibrant, with many clubs, teams, and groups being established. This model not only contributes to enriching the spiritual life of the people but also spreads and ignites the passion for national cultural values among ethnic minority communities.

Spreading the passion for national culture.

Members of the Kim Thuong commune's folk arts and culture club practice traditional songs and dances of the Muong ethnic group.

Whenever there is a major local event or during a festival, the community center of Kim Thuong commune resounds with songs and dances such as: Vi singing, Rang singing, Moi dance, Xoe dance, Sinh Tien dance, Dam Duong dance, Cham Ong dance, gong and drum music... performed by members of the commune's folk culture and arts club.

Ms. Sa Thi Tam, Chairwoman of the Elderly Association and Head of the Folk Arts and Culture Club of Kim Thuong Commune, said: “The club was established in 2019, initially with 40 members, and now has 60 members. After its establishment, we have researched and collected the cultural characteristics of the Muong people to incorporate into our training and performances. To operate effectively, the club is divided into four groups, with specific regulations, which has fostered a sense of responsibility among its members. A highlight of the club's activities is the restoration of gong and drum performances – one of the oldest traditional art forms of the Muong people. In addition, the club has proactively pioneered the restoration of brocade weaving, teaching it to many young women and youth, which has been highly appreciated by the Party committee, the government, and the people.”

Ms. Ha Thi Thao, 35, a member of the club, said: "The folk songs of Vi and Rang, and the sounds of traditional musical instruments have been deeply ingrained in my soul since childhood. Encouraged by my family and Ms. Sa Thi Tam, I joined the club when I was 18. Through participating in the club, I have had many opportunities to learn and showcase my talents, gaining a deep understanding of the meaning of each art form. Now, whenever I perform for the local people or for tourists from all over, I always feel confident and proud, hoping to promote the songs and dances – the cultural identity of my homeland – throughout the country."

Ms. Ha Thi Tien, a Muong woman from Kiet Son commune, has always been passionate about performing arts since childhood. She was determined to learn the traditional folk songs of the Vi and Rang ethnic groups. As the head of the commune's folk club, she regularly connects with performing arts clubs in Tan Son and Thanh Son districts, as well as some highland communes in provinces such as Tuyen Quang, Son La , and Hoa Binh, to learn from and exchange experiences, and to collect traditional cultural values of ethnic minority communities. Furthermore, she is a leading figure in participating in training courses to guide and practice traditional cultural heritage such as Vi, Rang, and Cham Duong singing for thousands of trainees both within and outside Tan Son district.

Ms. Ha Thi Tien stated: “The club currently has 40 members, ranging in age from 32 to 70 years old. The members are always willing and ready to dedicate their time to practicing and filming promotional videos for media and social networks. The club not only performs at major local events but also participates in performances at the Hung Temple Festival and several other festivals outside the province. Whenever we perform, we are very meticulous in selecting songs, costumes, and props to enhance the appeal for the audience.”

Comrade Cù Thị Thu Hằng, Head of the Culture and Information Department of Tân Sơn District, said: Currently, there are 183 folk culture and arts clubs in the district with over 3,000 members in various forms: Cham Duong, Vi singing, Rang singing, bell dance, tube dance, Muong scarf dance, clip dance, Sinh Tien dance; Lap Tinh, khen dance, gong and drum dance, Xoan singing... This is the core force for developing folk culture and arts at the grassroots level. These clubs not only preserve the cultural values of ethnic groups, including the Muong people, but also contribute to attracting and creating a positive impression on the people and tourists from all over about the people and land of Tân Sơn, rich in traditional culture.
