The Long Cốc Safe Tea Cooperative in Long Cốc commune has invested in a modern roasting and drying system, ensuring its products meet the OCOP 4-star standard.
According to statistics, the province currently has 14,500 hectares of tea plantations, with a fresh tea leaf production of over 193,000 tons (ranking 3rd nationwide). Tea cultivation is distributed across 58 communes and wards, of which 28 communes have over 100 hectares of tea plantations, totaling over 13,000 hectares (4 communes have over 1,000 hectares of tea plantations: Minh Dai, Long Coc, Yen Ky, and Tay Coc), forming concentrated growing areas that facilitate the application of mechanization in production.
Ms. Pham Thi Hanh, Director of Long Coc Safe Tea Cooperative in Long Coc commune, shared: "Being recognized as an OCOP product is a 'ticket' that helps Phu Tho green tea overcome technical barriers and confidently enter major markets. To maintain the reputation and brand of Phu Tho green tea, after being recognized as an OCOP product, businesses need to continue to focus on and invest in improving the quality of raw material areas, machinery systems, and production lines to stabilize product quality and build customer trust."
In the province, there are approximately 76 enterprises involved in tea production and processing, with an average output of over 60,000 tons per year, meeting the increasing demands of both domestic and export markets. More than 20% of these enterprises have invested in technology for processing green tea and other processed green tea products such as tea bags, matcha, bottled drinks, etc., including Phu Da Tea Company (Phu Long Tea Factory), SSOE Tea Company Limited, Cozy Tea Company, etc. Some enterprises are focusing on developing specialty and distinctive tea products such as Thanh Ba purple bud tea from UT Tea Investment and Development Company Limited, and Shan Pa Co tea from Phuong Huyen Company Limited.
Phu Tho province also has a large area of tea plantations applying high standards of safe production. The percentage of land applying IPM and ICM is 90.8%, and the area of tea plantations applying good and safe production processes (GlobalGAP, RA, VietGAP, organic, etc.) is 4,300 hectares. The entire province has 4,045 hectares of tea plantations that have been granted domestic planting area codes with 162 codes. At the same time, concentrated production areas have been established in key communes with an area of over 6,600 hectares. In addition, in many localities with large tea plantation areas, safe tea production sites have been established, linked to promoting and developing tourism in beautiful tea-growing regions, considered among the most unique in Vietnam: Long Coc and Thanh Thuy tea hills; the ancient Shan Tuyet tea hills in Duc Nhan, Pa Co, Van Son, and Xuan Son National Park...
The entire province has developed 39 tea products that have been recognized as OCOP products with 3 stars or higher, including 19 3-star products, 17 4-star products, and 2 5-star products from 21 entities. Businesses, cooperatives, and tea production and processing groups have strengthened production linkages and cooperation with tea growers, establishing 25 production and consumption chains for tea products with an output of over 22,600 tons per year.

The tea growing area of Long Coc Safe Tea Cooperative in Long Coc commune is produced according to VietGAP standards, meeting the requirements for improving product quality.
Mr. Nguyen Truong Giang, Deputy Head of the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, stated: Phu Tho has the advantage of a large, concentrated raw material area, making it convenient to standardize varieties, processes, and manage planting area codes. It has a long-standing tea tradition, a "local story" to build the province's brand and specialty products, beautiful landscapes, and valuable national identity (Hung Temple, Long Coc and Tay Coc tea hills, Xuan Son ancient tea garden, Pa Co...). The large ecosystem of businesses and cooperatives makes it easy to organize a stable supply chain for large orders as well as products for niche markets. Besides developing OCOP products, stakeholders need to link with each other and with businesses to create value chains so that tea products can maximize their potential and efficiency, increasing income for people in the midland and mountainous regions.
