Spreading acts of kindness

With a spirit of "mutual support and compassion," in recent times, charitable groups and volunteers in the province have coordinated with organizations and localities to organize many meaningful, practical, and humane activities aimed at the poor, disadvantaged, and vulnerable, thereby spreading love and contributing to sharing difficulties with the community and helping the poor rise up in life.

A group of volunteers from Hai Hau, Nam Dinh province, donated funds to help people in difficult circumstances in the district.

We met Ms. Nguyen Thi Hao, Deputy Head of the Hai Hau Nam Dinh Children's Volunteer Group, just as she and her group members were distributing financial assistance to underprivileged students at Hai Xuan Secondary School in Hai Xuan commune (Hai Hau district). Ms. Hao explained that the Hai Hau Nam Dinh Children's Volunteer Group was established in 2021 with four members and now has over ten members and collaborators in various localities throughout the province. They operate on a voluntary basis, primarily helping those in difficult circumstances to improve their lives. All members of the group do charity work out of sincerity and a sense of responsibility. Depending on the circumstances, the group provides appropriate assistance, such as: providing cash to underprivileged children, donating blankets and warm clothing to elderly people without support... helping them alleviate difficulties and pressure, and giving them confidence in life. Over the past four years, hundreds of small gifts such as bottles of fish sauce, MSG, rice, clothes, and books, as well as financial support for medical expenses and housing construction ranging from a few million to tens or even hundreds of millions of dong, have been entrusted by generous donors, bringing smiles and joy to many disabled people, orphans, and those in difficult circumstances, providing encouragement to help them overcome challenges in life. Activities such as providing free meals at medical facilities; supporting school supplies for underprivileged students; covering treatment costs for poor patients; and building charitable houses are regularly implemented by the group. From 2024 to the present, the group has raised over 443 million dong to help 9 cases within and outside the district; and donated many gifts worth over 10 million dong.

Despite facing many difficulties in life, Mr. Bui Dang Tu, from Yen My commune (Y Yen district), is always actively promoting and encouraging people to participate in voluntary blood donation. Sharing about his actions, Mr. Tu said: “For me, the message ‘Every drop of blood given saves a life’ is truly profound and meaningful. So as long as I have my health, I will continue to donate blood. I also hope to continue to encourage many people to participate in blood donation to help patients who need blood in critical situations.” While a student at Hanoi College of Electronics and Refrigeration, Mr. Tu actively participated in volunteer movements, including blood donation to save lives. After his first blood donation, Mr. Tu thoroughly researched information related to humanitarian blood donation, the effects of blood donation on health, and the social significance of blood donation… And the more he learned, the more he felt the positive and humane meaning of blood donation, and wished to donate blood many more times. On average, Mr. Tú regularly participates in blood donation 3-4 times a year, and to date has donated blood over 20 times, becoming a model voluntary blood donor in the province. Besides directly participating in humanitarian blood donation, Mr. Bùi Đăng Tú is also an active advocate, encouraging relatives, friends, and colleagues to participate in voluntary blood donation activities. Each blood donation drive, he usually manages to persuade 3-4 relatives, friends, colleagues, and neighbors to join. Enthusiastically participating in voluntary blood donation activities, since 2020, Mr. Tú has been a member of the Provincial Red Cross Volunteer Team, and in 2023 he was elected Deputy Team Leader of the Provincial Red Cross Volunteer Team. Under his leadership, the team has organized many practical humanitarian relief activities, established a "Living Blood Bank," and is ready to donate blood when patients urgently need it. To spread the team's activities to a wider audience, Mr. Tú and his members devised diverse methods of propaganda and mobilization, such as: posting on social media platforms like Facebook and Zalo; establishing several pages and groups about blood donation to promptly post information and schedules, as well as answer people's questions about blood donation; distributing leaflets on busy streets; and broadcasting messages on the public address systems of several wards and communes. Each month, the team regularly organizes at least one blood donation session at the Provincial General Hospital, collecting between 50 and over 100 units of blood. During blood donation drives organized by the Provincial and District Red Cross Societies, Mr. Tú and his team members both directly participate in blood donation and assist with the donation process. As both a direct blood donor and an active advocate for and promoter of voluntary blood donation, Mr. Bui Dang Tu has become a shining example in the humanitarian blood donation movement, receiving commendations from various levels. In 2023, he was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society for his outstanding achievements in voluntary blood donation.

Every step taken on the charitable journey by volunteer groups and individuals in the province has brought smiles and joy to those facing hardship and misfortune. This has spread love and multiplied acts of kindness, affirming that life will always have good things stemming from compassionate hearts.
