Coming to Mo Duc district, traveling on rural roads, many people cannot help but be delighted by the brilliant flower strips on both sides of the road. Under the sunlight, portulaca, cosmos, zinnias, canaries, etc. compete to show off their colors, creating a brilliant, vibrant scene.

These roads full of flowers are the result of the consensus and efforts of the Women's Union at all levels in the district. After more than 5 years of launching, the "Flower Road" model has received positive responses from many members. Not only women members, many families also volunteer to take care of flowers every day, keeping the country roads always fresh and brilliant.

Many rural roads in Mo Duc district are planted with cow lung trees, star flowers,... creating a brilliant, vibrant scene.

Village roads with flowers not only beautify the countryside, but also bring a peaceful and fresh living space. Paths filled with flowers seem to breathe a new wind into the rural landscape, making anyone who passes by feel light and relaxed. “Since the flower roads were built, everyone is happy. The village has become cleaner and more beautiful. Wherever I go, I feel more comfortable and relaxed than before,” said Ms. Tran Ngoc Dieu in Duc Hoa commune.

On village roads, flower paths are gradually replacing the weeds and spontaneous garbage dumps of the past.

On April days, walking along the road to village 1, Duc Chanh commune, passersby are quite excited by the strip of cosmos flowers blooming on both sides of the road. The strip of colorful flowers winding along the concrete road seems to slow down the steps of passersby to admire. Few people know that, before, along both sides of this road were patches of wild grass.

“Previously, both sides of this road were covered with weeds, and in many places people even littered, causing environmental pollution. But since the women joined hands to clean up and plant flowers, the road has become cleaner and more beautiful,” said Mr. Do Tan Khoa in Duc Chanh commune.

The village road is more beautiful thanks to the flower strips along the road.

Huynh Thi Thuy Trang, President of the Women's Union of Mo Duc district, said that the "Flower Route" model was initiated and implemented by the Union from 2021 to present. With the enthusiastic response and participation of the Union at all levels, there are currently 42 "Flower Routes" in the district planted and cared for by female officials and members. The model not only beautifies the landscape but also gradually changes people's awareness of environmental protection, raising awareness of keeping their homes, village roads, and alleys clean.

Recently, in order to maintain and develop the model, as well as raise awareness, the active and core role of cadres, women's union members and people in preserving the environment, actively participating in building new rural areas and civilized urban areas, the District Women's Union has coordinated with relevant agencies and units to organize the "Model Flower Road" contest.

This contest has received the response and participation of the Women's Union of 12 communes and towns in the district. During the implementation process, the communes and towns will choose the most beautiful flower route, each route is at least 300m long to participate in the contest. After a month of implementation, the Organizing Committee has judged and awarded prizes to the participating units.

Duc Hoa commune is the locality with the most flower roads in Mo Duc district.

“The 'Model Flower Road' contest is one of the activities responding to the 'Bright - Green - Clean - Beautiful' movement in Mo Duc district, creating a green, clean and beautiful environment, contributing to building a new rural district, improving the quality of life and happiness of the people. Not stopping at the contest, the flower roads continue to be maintained and cared for, creating an increasingly prosperous appearance of the countryside", said Huynh Thi Thuy Trang, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Mo Duc district.

In addition to the flower routes planted and cared for by cadres and women's union members, many people have also proactively planted flowers on the roads and alleys in front of their houses. The movement of planting flowers along the roads has really spread to every village, hamlet and household. The formation of flower routes has changed people's awareness of environmental sanitation issues; the awareness of beautifying the village and hamlet landscape has been clearly raised. In places where flowers have been planted, people no longer litter or graze cattle along the roads like before.

To contribute to creating an increasingly beautiful landscape and appearance, the District Party Committee and People's Committee of Mo Duc District have set a target that by the end of 2025, the entire district will plant new and maintain flower, tree, and ornamental tree roads, striving to reach over 60% of the kilometers of flower, tree, and green fence roads out of the total kilometers of roads at all levels.

The brilliant flower roads not only beautify Mo Duc village, but also vividly demonstrate the positive changes in people's awareness and actions. Through simple and practical actions, cadres, women's union members and people here are contributing to building a new rural area that is not only green - clean - beautiful, but also civilized, affectionate and full of vitality.
