
Residents of Hop Ly commune take advantage of the time while waiting for their administrative procedures to be processed to read books and gather information at the service area of the commune's Public Administrative Service Center.
To date, the entire commune has 37 community libraries with over 2,100 books covering various fields such as history, culture, science and technology, life skills, healthcare, and family economic development. All 28 village cultural centers have libraries to serve the reading needs of the people. In addition, 9 schools in the area maintain libraries and reading corners, creating a favorable learning environment for teachers and students. Annually, the percentage of people participating in reading and borrowing books reaches over 80%.
Comrade Dang Duc Hiep, Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Department of Hop Ly Commune, said: In building cultural life at the grassroots level, the locality always pays attention to developing reading culture. The commune directs villages and schools to effectively maintain book collections; regularly supplement and rotate books suitable for each target group. Activities in response to Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day are organized annually, contributing to arousing a love of reading among the people. Through this, gradually building a habit of reading and lifelong learning, improving spiritual life and contributing to building a healthy cultural environment.
At many village cultural centers, after hours of work or cultural and sports activities, people spend time reading books that suit their needs.
Mr. Do Van Binh, Secretary of the Cau Duoi Village Party Branch, shared: "The village cultural center is not only a place for community meetings and activities but also a familiar reading spot for the people. We regularly promote and encourage families to pay more attention to their children's reading, and encourage people to borrow books to study and learn at home. Many books on animal husbandry, farming, healthcare, or the history and traditions of our homeland have been well received by the people."

The bookshelf at the village cultural center has become a familiar destination, contributing to the spread of reading habits among the residents of Hop Ly commune.
During the summer holidays, the reading space at the Cau Duoi village cultural center is always crowded with students. Hoang Duc Huy, an 8th-grade student at Hop Ly Secondary School, said: "In the afternoons, after helping my parents with housework and playing sports, I often go to the cultural center to read. I especially like history books and self-help books because they help me learn many useful things. Thanks to reading, I've learned a lot of new knowledge, learned how to manage my time effectively, and reduced my use of phones and computers during the summer break."

After their sports training sessions, the people of Doc Lap village spend time reading, expanding their knowledge, and improving their spiritual lives.
Not only students, but many elderly people and women's association members also maintain the habit of reading books every day. After practicing volleyball at the Doc Lap village cultural center, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hue spends time reading her favorite books. Mrs. Hue said: "After exercising, I often read books with others at the cultural center. Books about health care, raising children and grandchildren, or stories about the traditions of my hometown help me gain more useful knowledge. Reading helps relax the mind and adds joy to life."
Along with maintaining community libraries, local organizations such as the Women's Union, the Youth Union, and the Senior Citizens' Association actively promote and encourage their members to develop reading habits. Many families are paying more attention to creating study corners and reading spaces for their children, gradually fostering a reading culture within each family.
Through practical actions, the reading movement in Hop Ly commune is increasingly developing, becoming a beautiful aspect of the cultural life of the people. Books not only bring knowledge but also nurture the soul, foster a spirit of learning, and contribute to building a more prosperous, beautiful, and civilized Hop Ly commune.
