The National Assembly delegation's meetings with constituents clearly demonstrated a spirit of listening and understanding the people. The people frankly pointed out "bottlenecks" in the two-tiered local government model, the pressure of staffing at the commune level; investment in key transportation and irrigation projects; and the priority given to upgrading and repairing dilapidated infrastructure, linked to tourism and marine economic development.
Concerned about the well-being of officials and civil servants, voter Trinh Thi Kieu Trinh, residing in Dong Thinh 2 hamlet, Long Xuyen ward, petitioned the National Assembly and the Government to promptly implement salary reforms linked to job positions according to the planned schedule. Ms. Trinh emphasized: “The new basic salary needs to be substantial, ensuring a decent standard of living, thereby creating motivation for officials, civil servants, and public employees to work with peace of mind and contribute to the socio-economic development of the locality and the country.”
Voter Nguyen Thi Hau, residing in Binh Long 3 hamlet, Long Xuyen ward, expressed her agreement with the policy of "putting the people at the center of development." She highly appreciated the advantages of the two-tiered local government model after the administrative unit reorganization, which helps the apparatus become closer to and more responsive to the people. However, to maximize effectiveness, she suggested that hamlets and villages should be reorganized scientifically and rationally, based on ethnic and religious characteristics; and that the strength of grassroots officials should be promoted, especially in preserving and strengthening community bonds in residential areas.
Besides macroeconomic policies, voters also raised pressing issues regarding urban infrastructure. Mr. Nguyen Huu Tai (70 years old), residing in Long Xuyen ward, reflected on the fact that the wastewater service fee collection in the locality has many inappropriate aspects, causing public dissatisfaction. Regarding the management of public land, voter Tai suggested that the province needs decisive solutions to deal with "prime land" areas that are being left abandoned, causing a waste of resources.
Taking note of voters' opinions, the Secretary of the Long Xuyen Ward Party Committee, Lam Quang Thi, directly addressed issues within his authority, emphasizing that investment in transportation, education, and healthcare infrastructure is a top priority for the ward. Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Le Van Phuoc, provided further information on the plan to upgrade Long Xuyen urban area and renovate the Ton Duc Thang Memorial Area. Regarding the headquarters after the merger, the province has a plan to convert its function or upgrade it into a second facility to avoid waste.
A common thread in voters' opinions, whether on macro-policy issues or pressing daily life matters, is a consistent demand: the government needs to respond promptly, clearly define responsibilities, and provide a concrete roadmap for resolution. When suggestions are taken seriously and "placed appropriately" in the governance process, voter engagement truly becomes an effective channel for social oversight, contributing to policy improvement and enhancing the quality of governance at every level.
In Vinh Trach commune, the story of listening to the people took on a simple, down-to-earth form through the 2025 direct dialogue conference between the head of the Party committee and the government with the people. Here, pressing issues such as school violence, inadequate clean water quality, and illegal electric fishing were raised by the people. The people felt truly empowered, while the government had the opportunity to "listen," thereby reforming management thinking and tightening public service discipline.
In 2025, the Party Committee of Vinh Trach commune focused on leading and directing the implementation of 21 resolution targets, including 12 targets achieved and 8 targets exceeded. Social welfare work was carried out effectively, with the commune mobilizing over 3.3 billion VND for the fund for the poor and social welfare; building and repairing more than 50 houses for poor households and households with difficult circumstances. Administrative reform and digital transformation have seen many positive changes. More than 2,200 dossiers were received and processed correctly and on time. National defense and security were maintained, and social order and safety were ensured. "Vinh Trach commune is striving every day to serve the people, turning the satisfaction of voters into a driving force for socio-economic development and building a prosperous and beautiful homeland," said Nguyen Thien Bao, Chairman of the People's Committee of Vinh Trach commune.
These interactions and dialogues, from the central to the grassroots level, provide opportunities to bridge the gap between the Party's will and the people's aspirations. When each suggestion is listened to and each voter's concern is addressed through concrete actions, the bond of solidarity is strengthened, reinforcing the people's trust in the Party and the government.
