Most localities give students 10-14 days off for Tet Giap Thin, of which Ha Giang has the most with 16 days, and Bac Giang has the least - 7 days.
By February 1, most provinces and cities had announced the 2024 Lunar New Year holiday for preschool and primary school children. Ha Giang had the longest holiday of 16 days, starting from February 3 to 18 (December 24 to January 9).
Previously, according to the school year schedule announced in August, Lao Cai also gave students 16 days off like Ha Giang. However, in the decision of the Departmentof Education and Training on January 18, students will have a break from February 5 to February 18, or 14 days.

Bac Giang has the shortest Tet holiday for students, with 7 days, from February 8 to 14, similar to the Tet holiday schedule for workers. Hanoi, Ha Nam and Hai Phong have students take one more day off, starting from February 7.
These localities explained that the Tet holiday for students is built according to the general Tet holiday schedule approved by the Prime Minister. This holiday schedule will not cause disruption to families and avoid unsafe situations when children are off school but parents still have to go to work.
Some localities do not have a fixed break time. Bac Kan province allows each school to decide on a suitable Tet holiday time based on actual conditions, as long as they do not return to school later than February 14.
For the remaining provinces and cities, most students will have about two weeks off. The latest time to return to school is February 19.
