Whether playing at home or away, the Vietnamese national team has consistently shown positive statistics against their Malaysian opponents.
Recent head-to-head history shows that the Vietnamese national team holds a clear advantage over Malaysia. In the last five encounters, the Vietnamese team has won every time. Notably, in the 2020 and 2022 AFF Cups, the Vietnamese team defeated Malaysia in the group stage with the same score of 3-0. In the second round of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, the Vietnamese team beat Malaysia in both legs, with a 1-0 victory at My Dinh Stadium and a 2-1 win at the neutral venue of Al Maktoum Stadium (UAE).
Notably, the last time Vietnam played at Bukit Jalil was in the first leg of the 2018 AFF Cup final, where they drew 2-2 before winning 1-0 in the second leg at My Dinh Stadium, thus becoming Southeast Asian champions.
Coach Kim Sang Sik shared that the head-to-head record is the basis for the Vietnamese national team's confidence in seeking victory away from home, opening up favorable opportunities for the race to qualify for the 2027 Asian Cup Finals in Group F.

The Vietnamese national team continues its training in Malaysia. The training ground is about a 10-minute drive from the hotel. This is also the same location used by the ASEAN All Stars before their recent friendly match against Manchester United. New players such as Cao Pendant Quang Vinh, Dang Van Toi, Pham Ly Duc, and Nguyen Quoc Viet have quickly adapted to the team's playing style, contributing to positive competition within the squad and giving head coach Kim Sang Sik more opportunities to practice tactical maneuvers, refine the team's lineup, and test optimal personnel options for the upcoming match against Malaysia.
The Vietnamese national team will have two more days to prepare for the match against the Malaysian national team, which will take place at 8 PM (Vietnam time) on June 10th.
