Vietnam KOL Alliance to be established in August 2025

At the seminar “Building Digital Trust”, organized by the National Cyber Security Association on July 28 in Hanoi , experts said that influencers (also known as KOL/KOC) on social networks are gradually becoming "leaders" in the new media trend. They have the role of shaping thinking, spreading information and inspiring millions of people, especially young people.

From the role of product introducers, KOLs have transformed themselves into guides of aesthetics, lifestyle, consumer perspectives and even social issues such as the environment, gender equality, education ...

However, the greater the influence, the greater the responsibility. In fact, many KOLs have taken advantage of their influence to spread false information, promote harmful and untrue content, or advertise poor quality products. Especially in the digital environment, an unverified statement or deviant content can also have a significant negative impact on the community and society.

In many countries, KOLs are now not just a marketing tool but have become a symbol of “soft power” that has influence in society. Therefore, according to the representative of A05 ( Ministry of Public Security ), the role of KOLs cannot be separated from responsibility.

On the one hand, KOLs need to be facilitated to exert positive influence to promote the national economy, culture, and media. On the other hand, there needs to be an appropriate management mechanism to guide behavior, enhance social responsibility, and prevent negative consequences caused by false content.

Governments of many countries have begun to build legal frameworks and policies to encourage information transparency, standardize promotional content, and strengthen KOL management to balance economic development and community protection.

Practical initiatives to support KOLs and KOCs in developing talent, creating quality content and avoiding legal risks… have begun but have not spread enough to become a foundation for the healthy development of KOLs and KOCs in Vietnam.

To further promote the important role of KOLs in digital transformation, the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention has closely coordinated with the National Cyber Security Association to launch three key initiatives to prepare for launch at the first National KOL Conference taking place in August 2025.

The conference will be a forum for the Vietnamese KOL community, connecting managers, businesses, technology platforms and typical KOLs to discuss sustainable and responsible development solutions.

At the Conference, the organizers will also establish the Vietnam KOL Alliance, gathering prestigious KOLs with positive social influence to promote public opinion, fight against misinformation, spread digital safety skills and implement community projects.

In addition, the event will also launch a series of action programs to promote the responsible influence of KOLs through community rules and standards, promoting transparency and voluntary self-control of KOLs themselves.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Tien Cuong - Head of the Department of Network Information Monitoring and Prevention of Cyberspace Uses that Violate National Security (Department A05, Ministry of Public Security) shared: “Cyberspace is not only a tool but has become an inseparable part of modern life. Influencers with their strong influence need to become a pioneering force accompanying the State in maintaining social order and safety in the digital environment. As a specialized force protecting network security, protecting national sovereignty in cyberspace, building a safe and healthy cyberspace to serve the protection and development of the country, we are ready to accompany organizations, businesses and the KOL community to promote practical initiatives to enhance the role and positive contributions of KOLs to the nation's progress."

With the expectation of becoming an "open round table" between KOLs, management agencies, digital platform businesses and the community, the Conference promises to promote a wave of responsible influence, contributing to shaping a civilized, safe and sustainable digital Vietnam./.
