"A remedy" for people's health.

As is customary, around 5 a.m., from peaceful villages to bustling cities, from the elderly and middle-aged to young people and children, everyone can find joy and benefits from participating in physical exercise to energize themselves for a productive new workday.

Observations show that each person chooses a suitable sport depending on their age and health. Older people often exercise in groups with gentle, slow-paced exercises. Young people choose faster, more energetic, and structured group activities such as jogging, badminton, and soccer. The majority opt for simpler forms of exercise such as folk dance, yoga, swimming, walking, cycling, or doing stationary exercises using equipment installed in parks by local authorities.

For over 18 years, Mr. Hoang Van Nga, from Dong Son ward ( Thanh Hoa City), has maintained a regular morning exercise routine. Every morning, around 4 a.m., he jogs from his house to Bo Ve Park to exercise. Because of this, even though he is over 70 years old, he looks much younger than his actual age. Mr. Nga confided: “Before, I often suffered from joint pain, my body ached all over when I woke up in the morning, and I often felt dizzy. But after exercising in the morning, I feel my body is slimmer and more toned, especially my spirits are high, I feel relaxed, and I no longer have joint pain.”

In Dong Huong ward (Thanh Hoa City), Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa has chosen physical exercise as her companion for the past 15 years, proving that it's never too late to start a healthy lifestyle. This discipline not only helps her maintain physical flexibility and agility but also brings a refreshed spirit and peaceful mind. According to her: “Everyone faces a lot of pressure in work and life, and exercising is the best way to reduce stress. Since I started exercising, I feel my health has improved a lot. Moreover, I've built many close and intimate relationships with my fellow exercisers, adding more color and meaning to my life.”

Regularly, around 5 am and 6 pm at the Xuan Tien village cultural center in Dan Luc commune (Trieu Son district), women in brightly colored costumes perform energetic and joyful dances, accompanied by laughter and music, creating a vibrant and cheerful atmosphere. Mastering each movement with graceful and rhythmic steps, Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh from Tien Moc village said: “I love folk dance because it not only gives me a healthy physique and flexibility but also provides fun and relaxing moments every day.” Ms. Binh added that folk dance is easy to learn, and the steps are simple enough for anyone to follow. Experienced dancers teach newcomers, and everyone learns the routines online and practices together, creating a sense of unity and camaraderie. Furthermore, the comfortable and easy-to-choose practice attire suits many women. Therefore, folk dance has attracted many women to participate.

Currently, in Dan Luc commune, the folk dance movement has developed in all 13 villages. Besides participating in folk dance practice at the community center, the women in the folk dance teams also regularly organize exchanges with each other. Particularly, driven by a passion for folk dance and a desire to interact and participate in events with other localities, in August 2023, Dan Luc commune established the Dan Luc Folk Dance Club, attracting more than 20 women who are exemplary and active members, proficiently practicing dance routines in their respective villages.

Health experts have confirmed that morning exercise offers undeniable benefits. It not only improves physical health and strengthens the immune system, but also positively impacts mental well-being, reduces stress, and enhances concentration. Furthermore, morning exercise provides an opportunity for people to meet, socialize, and foster a healthy, close-knit community. Previously, morning exercise was mostly limited to the elderly and those with medical conditions requiring medical guidance. However, nowadays, the number of young people participating in exercise is increasing, especially women who are actively exercising to lose weight, achieve a slimmer, more toned, and youthful physique through aerobics and fitness exercises. They are independently researching and learning new exercises to suit their needs... Because of this, every morning the streets and corners are always bustling with the cheerful and enthusiastic atmosphere of a new day.

To support the public's participation in sports and physical activities, Thanh Hoa City and the surrounding rural areas of its communes and towns are equipped with many free outdoor exercise equipment, providing effective support for physical exercise. Elderly people, teenagers, and both men and women can comfortably exercise on the installed equipment. This is a meaningful and truly practical model of public sports, creating conditions for people to safely, freely, and effectively improve their health, while also attracting a large number of people to participate in sports and physical activities to enhance their well-being.
