What is the "soul and lifeblood of the revolutionary army"?

NDO - On the morning of November 5th, in Hanoi, the People's Army Newspaper organized a seminar on "80 Years of the Soul and Lifeblood of the Revolutionary Army," commemorating the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 12, 2024), the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2024), and the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024).

Attending the seminar were General Pham Thanh Ngan, former member of the Politburo and former Head of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army; journalist Hong Vinh, former member of the Central Committee of the Party and former Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper; and Comrade Le Hai Binh, alternate member of the Central Committee of the Party and Editor-in-Chief of Communist Magazine.

According to Major General Doan Xuan Bo, Editor-in-Chief of the People's Army Newspaper, the seminar received more than 30 papers from leaders and former leaders in the army, scientists , generals, and commanders of agencies and units throughout the army.

The presentations are the result of meticulous, serious, and intellectual research, possessing profound theoretical and practical value, clearly affirming the position, role, function, and immense contributions of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army to the cause of building, fighting, and winning of our army over the past 80 years.

At the seminar, the delegates' presentations delved into analyzing and affirming that: As a strategic advisory body responsible for Party and political work throughout the entire army, the General Political Department promptly advises the Party, the State, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense on leading and directing the entire army to effectively implement the resolutions and directives of the Party and the Central Military Commission.

The General Political Department has always been perceptive, creative, and timely in concretizing the policies, guidelines, resolutions, directives, and strategic decisions of the Politburo, the Secretariat, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense. It directs and guides Party work and political work in line with the characteristics and nature of the tasks of the army and all branches and services of the armed forces, in accordance with the practical operations of the troops, especially before major campaigns, moments of historical turning points in the revolution, and difficult and unexpected tasks.

Delegates noted that the General Political Department had directed, guided, and meticulously organized the comprehensive, synchronized, and unified implementation of activities to build political and spiritual factors for the entire army and spread that spirit to the entire population.

In the current period, upholding the tradition of "Loyalty-steadfastness; exemplary-exemplary; principled-democratic; proactive-creative; perceptive-sharp; unity-solidarity; decisive battle-decisive victory," the General Political Department consistently promotes a positive and proactive spirit in advising and effectively implementing resolutions, strategies, directives, and guidelines on the task of national defense and army building in the new situation.
