The deal between Alexander Isak and Liverpool will surpass the Premier League transfer record set by Liverpool when they signed Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen for £116 million earlier this summer.
Isak will undergo a medical examination on Monday before finalizing the transfer.
The Athletic reported earlier on Sunday that talks about a potential move for Isak to Liverpool were intensifying ahead of the transfer deadline.
Previously, the reigning Premier League champions had made a £110 million offer for the 25-year-old player, but it was rejected by the North East club, despite their earlier desire to complete a £120 million deal.
Isak has publicly expressed his desire to leave Newcastle and has not featured in the pre-season or in any of the club's first three Premier League matches this season.
Newcastle's position has always been that the Swedish international is not for sale, but sources close to the situation, who are not authorized to speak publicly, say Liverpool have been pursuing the deal in recent days with the belief that it will go through.
Liverpool spent over £250 million this summer on Hugo Ekitz, Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, and Giovanni Leoni. With the signing of striker Alexander Isak, Liverpool's total spending has now exceeded £400 million. Conversely, Liverpool recouped approximately £170 million from player sales.
Givemesport and several other Liverpool-affiliated news outlets report that Isak will earn £250,000 per week, more than double his current salary at Newcastle. The striker, born in 2000, will become Liverpool's third-highest-paid player, behind superstars Mohamed Salah (£400,000 per week) and Virgil van Dijk (£385,000 per week).

After Messi, Son Heung-min is now causing a sensation in the US.

Another defeat, Pep Guardiola laments that Man City players have forgotten how to play football.
