Dang Quoc Ngan's family is actively expanding their banana plantation area.
Having been granted a planting area code, fresh bananas from Trinh Tuong commune, Bat Xat district, have been officially exported, facilitating sales and ensuring high and stable prices. Recognizing the potential, this year, the family of Mr. Dang Quoc Ngan, in Na Lac village, Trinh Tuong commune, Bat Xat district, decided to plant more than 1,000 banana trees to increase their income. "Compared to a few years ago when we didn't have a planting area code, selling bananas was very difficult. Now that my family has contacted the company that has been granted the planting area code, bananas are now fetching good prices and are easy to sell," Mr. Dang Quoc Ngan shared.
Trinh Tuong commune currently has nearly 100 hectares of banana plantations, all of which have been granted planting area codes. This is a necessary and mandatory condition for export, and also an important factor in managing and tracing the origin of the product, contributing to increasing the economic value of this key crop in the locality. "Having a planting area code allows us to control the production process of the people, facilitate traceability, and create conditions for official export. Without it, exporting would be very difficult," said Mr. Pham Van Hung, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Trinh Tuong commune, Bat Xat district.
The granting of planting area codes to banana-growing areas has provided additional motivation, helping farmers feel secure in developing this crop.
The province has been granted 10 banana growing area codes. To effectively manage and utilize these codes, the agricultural sector has directed specialized staff to coordinate with local authorities to closely monitor cultivation processes and pesticide use, ensuring compliance with the standards of importing countries. "Close coordination in periodic monitoring of the growing area's owners regarding relevant regulations, strengthening the dissemination of production processes, as well as regulations of importing countries for Vietnamese agricultural products," said Ms. Ma Thi Ha Thu, Head of the Plant Protection and Quarantine Department, Provincial Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection.
Granting planting area codes not only ensures more stable consumption of agricultural products but also gradually standardizes the production process, meeting the requirements of the export market. This helps to increase economic value, boost people's income, and promote the sustainable and efficient development of commercial agriculture.
