After Apple released iOS 26 with many interface and design changes, some iPhone users reported problems with the touch keyboard, a bug that made typing more difficult than usual.

Besides the Liquid Glass design and a series of interface updates, iOS 26 has also left many users confused as they have to get used to familiar menus and features again. Some have reported reduced battery life on older iPhone models after the upgrade. However, the most frustrating issue recently has been the keyboard-related bug.

YouTuber Michi NekoMichi was the first to discover this bug through a slow-motion video of him typing on an iPhone running iOS 26. In the video, he showed that even when the user pressed the correct character, the system still misidentified it. The auto-correction feature was turned off, and the word prediction function wasn't the main cause either, as the interface displayed that the user had pressed the correct position. For example, when typing the letter U, the system recorded it as J or H.

The video quickly went viral on YouTube and Reddit, attracting thousands of comments. Many people confirmed experiencing similar issues, stating that the bug was not an isolated incident.

"I thought I was typing incorrectly due to age, but it turned out to be a software bug. I've sent feedback to Apple," one Reddit user wrote.

Another person, who has been an iOS programmer since 2018, shared that the keyboard issue has existed for years but hasn't been thoroughly resolved. "I don't understand why the iPhone keyboard still has such basic bugs. This should have been a top priority since iOS 10," this person said.

The extent of the keyboard bug's impact on a global scale is currently unclear. Some users have reported a significant increase in typing errors after upgrading to iOS 26, even when using newer iPhone models like the iPhone 17.

According to NekoMichi, the tech community currently has no temporary workaround for this issue other than sending feedback directly to Apple through the user portal. The company has also not yet issued any official comment or patch regarding the keyboard issue in iOS 26.
