Cybercriminals are exploiting the event to ensnare users with fake websites, virtual lotteries, and invitations to "experience the product early." A common tactic is impersonating an Apple Store page, inviting users to pre-order iPhones in "limited" quantities. When entering payment information, victims lose their card data instead of receiving a real order. Free iPhone giveaway programs are also rampant, requiring email addresses, phone numbers, and service fees. To increase credibility, scammers even create fake comments confirming the prize.
Notably, scammers also exploit the desire to experience new technology. The "iPhone 17 tester" trick lures users into providing personal information and shipping fees, but no product is ever sent. Instead, their data is exploited for more sophisticated scam campaigns.

A survey scam lures users into becoming "testers" for the new iPhone.
Web content analyst Tatyana Shcherbakova (Kaspersky) warns: "Cybercriminals always know how to exploit the hype surrounding major product launches, turning user excitement into opportunities to steal data. Our observations show that these scams are becoming increasingly sophisticated, no longer just rudimentary fake emails, but have evolved into websites with interfaces similar to legitimate sites. Users need to be vigilant, always verify information instead of acting impulsively, to avoid becoming victims of these threats."
Kaspersky recommends that users take the following measures to proactively protect themselves from the wave of scams capitalizing on the iPhone 17 launch event:
- Only buy from official sources: order through Apple's website or authorized retailers to avoid accessing fake sites.
- Always double-check website URLs: do not click on emails, text messages, or automated advertisements promising promotions or prizes.
- Avoid sharing personal data to receive giveaways: reputable programs rarely ask for sensitive information upfront. If asked for your name, card number, or address, consider it a warning sign.
- Enable two-factor authentication for your Apple ID account and financial apps, and regularly check your statements to detect unusual transactions early.
In particular, Kaspersky emphasizes that users can proactively protect themselves with Kaspersky Plus. This solution integrates:
- Anti-Phishing and Safe Browsing technology detects and blocks fake websites immediately.
- Unlimited VPN access ensures secure data when shopping online. Secure password management helps prevent account leaks.
- In an era where technology product launches are often accompanied by scams, combining personal vigilance with modern security tools is the best "shield" to protect users.
