In 2009, after graduating as a Traditional Medicine Practitioner from the former Long An Medical College, Mr. Tran Van Ngoc Hoang began working at the Traditional Medicine and Rehabilitation Department of the former Tan Hung District Health Center. At that time, the district health center faced many difficulties, lacking adequate facilities and medical equipment. With a deep love for his profession, he was always dedicated to his work, overcoming challenges with his colleagues and wholeheartedly caring for the health of the local people.
To accumulate knowledge and improve his skills, he constantly studied to enhance his professional qualifications. With the support and encouragement of the Center's leadership, in 2017 he graduated with a major in Traditional Medicine and Rehabilitation from Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, and also completed a specialized course in rehabilitation in 2019. In May 2020, he was appointed Deputy Head of the Department, and in September 2020, he became Head of the Department of Traditional Medicine and Rehabilitation, a position he holds to this day.
Having been involved in the medical field for over 17 years, Dr. Tran Van Ngoc Hoang chose Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) not only as a profession but also as a passion. He shared: “TCM is the essence accumulated over many generations, combining folk experience with modern scientific foundations. Therefore, each herbal remedy, each acupuncture or massage treatment, and the combination with physical therapy and rehabilitation methods such as electrostimulation, shortwave therapy, laser therapy… all require carefulness, meticulousness, and the heart of the physician.”
As Head of Department, Dr. Hoang not only directly examines and treats patients but also inspires the younger medical staff. The Traditional Medicine and Rehabilitation Department currently treats many chronic diseases such as osteoarthritis, sciatica, stroke, etc. On average, the department receives dozens of patients each month. Despite the heavy workload, Dr. Hoang always maintains a calm and caring demeanor, meticulously explaining the patient's condition to reassure them about treatment.
Many elderly patients view the doctor as a family member. Mr. Truong Van Trung (residing in Tan Hung commune) said emotionally, "I suffered a stroke more than two years ago and sought treatment in many places without success. Thanks to Dr. Hoang's dedicated treatment and guidance on exercises, I can now walk more easily."
Dr. Hoang shared: "A doctor must prioritize ethics. Besides diligently examining and treating patients, they must also possess compassion, medical ethics, and responsibility in their work. Furthermore, they must constantly learn, improve their professional knowledge, actively research, and apply new science and technology in their work to better serve patients."
For his contributions to his work, Dr. Tran Van Ngoc Hoang is highly appreciated by the leadership. Dr. Bui Thi Thuy Linh - Deputy Director of Tan Hung Regional Health Center, commented that during his work, Dr. Hoang always excellently completed his assigned tasks, possessed solid professional skills and expertise, was energetic and dedicated to his profession; participated well in the emulation movements of the ngành; created conditions and helped colleagues to progress; and was devoted, enthusiastic, and wholeheartedly committed to patients.
Always dedicated to his work, Dr. Tran Van Ngoc Hoang has received numerous commendations from the health sector and local authorities for his outstanding achievements in providing healthcare to the people. This serves as motivation for him to continue contributing even more to the medical field with enthusiasm and passion.
