On the morning of January 4th, the Party Committee and the Command of Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony to receive the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces.
Attending the ceremony were members of the Politburo: Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; Standing Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh; Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen; Minister of National Defense Phan Van Giang; Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang...
Also attending were current and former leaders of the Party, State, Army, and Ho Chi Minh City.
On December 26, 2024, the President signed a decision awarding the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces to the Ho Chi Minh City Armed Forces for their exceptionally outstanding achievements in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, building the People's Army, strengthening national defense, and contributing to the cause of building and protecting the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.
This is the third time the Ho Chi Minh City Armed Forces have been awarded this prestigious title.
The Ho Chi Minh City Armed Forces receive the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh praised and congratulated the officers and soldiers of the Ho Chi Minh City Armed Forces.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces is a noble award, reflecting the attention and recognition of the Party, State, and people for the great contributions and dedication, especially the will, determination, and noble sacrifices of the officers and soldiers of the Ho Chi Minh City Armed Forces as well as the city's medical forces; it represents trust and expectation in new achievements and victories for the Ho Chi Minh City Armed Forces.

The Prime Minister requested that in the coming period, the Ho Chi Minh City Armed Forces enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the Party's leadership and the State's management role in military and national defense; proactively and effectively respond to non-traditional and traditional security challenges; regularly monitor the situation, develop policies and countermeasures, and promptly and effectively handle situations, avoiding passivity and surprises in national defense, military, and security.

Established on September 4, 1945, the Ho Chi Minh City Armed Forces have continuously grown and matured, achieving many resounding victories and joining the whole country in glorious triumphs; building a tradition of "Unwavering loyalty, tenacious steadfastness, unity and discipline, dynamism and creativity, and determination to fight and win."
In this new era, under the attentive leadership of the Party, the State, the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, and regularly and directly under the Party Committee and Command of Military Region 7 and the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and People's Committee; and with the trust and support of the people, the city's armed forces have made remarkable progress and maturity; in any situation, they are always ready to accept, successfully and excellently complete all tasks.
