After the summer break, Luka Modric was officially introduced as an AC Milan player at a press conference at the club's sports center.

At 39 (turning 40 in a month), Modric is still ambitious and has declared he is coming to Milan to win.

“ I can't wait to meet everyone and start training,” Modric said after Milan returned from their pre-season tour.

Modric has been a Milan fan since he was a child: “People can be emotional at any age. I recently had an emotional farewell to Real Madrid – at any stage of life, emotions remain.

I grew up playing Italian football, and Milan was my favourite team. The club has a huge following in Croatia.

Moreover, my idol – Zvonimir Boban – used to play here. I have always had a special attachment to the Rossoneri” .

The Croatian midfielder praised Milan's position, as well as setting the goal of winning with his new team.

“ We all remember Milan as one of the greatest teams in the world . A team that cannot be satisfied with a mediocre season or simply qualifying for the Champions League.

Regarding my vision for Milan, we also need to be humble: we need to work hard to bring the team back to the top. I am a very competitive person; I want to pass that on to the team.

The minimum target is to qualify for the Champions League, but Milan must fight for the title – that is my target, and should be the target of everyone who works at Milan.

However, we need to stay humble and build a strong team.”

When asked why he chose Milan, Modric confided: “I spent 13 years at the biggest club in the world, and now I come to a team that used to be Real Madrid years ago.

Milan lost that at some point along the way. The club needs to work to get back to that level. My part is to give my best this year and enjoy this time.”
