This is an annual event of the ethnic minority communities in the mountainous district of Nho Quan, and it has become a distinctive cultural tourism product, bearing the unique identity of this locality.

Secretary of the Ninh Binh Provincial Party Committee Doan Minh Huan, leaders of the Provincial People's Council, Provincial People's Committee, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ninh Binh province, along with a large number of local people and tourists from all over the country, attended the ceremony.
In his opening remarks at the festival, Mr. Hoang Khac Tiep, Chairman of the Nho Quan District People's Committee, emphasized that Nho Quan is a mountainous district located at the northwestern gateway of Ninh Binh province, home to 28 ethnic groups with a population of over 174,000 people, of which the Muong ethnic group accounts for 17%.

Nho Quan is referred to as an "ancient land," a place enriched by layers of cultural sediments with historical relics marking the appearance of humans more than 7,500 years ago. It is the cradle of the revolutionary movement and possesses a unique source of cultural heritage resources.
Many generations of people from various ethnic groups have passed down and spread valuable traditional cultural values, including many valuable tangible and intangible cultural heritages such as: festivals, traditional crafts, culinary dishes, performing arts such as: Cheo singing, Dum singing, lullabies, Sac Bua singing, gong music and folk games of the Muong ethnic group, which have been preserved, protected and developed.
Along with its unique cultural values, Nho Quan is also blessed with many scenic spots such as: Cuc Phuong National Park, Van Trinh Cave, But Cave - Thien Ha Cave, Dong Chuong Lake, Cuc Phuong mineral spring, mountains and a system of majestic and poetic caves, rivers and lakes associated with historical and traditional cultural values that are always preserved and developed.
The advantages in nature, landscape, and historical culture are important prerequisites for Nho Quan to form and develop famous eco-tourism, resort, and sports areas such as: Cuc Phuong Resort, Vedana high-end eco-tourism area, Trang An Golf Course, Phu Doi Ngang spiritual tourism area...

The Cultural and Sports Festival is an annual cultural event of the ethnic communities in Nho Quan district, aiming to create a healthy and beneficial playground, and an opportunity for artisans, performers, and amateur athletes to meet, interact, and introduce the cultural essence of their ethnic groups and localities.
This is also an opportunity for Nho Quan to promote and introduce its cultural and tourism products to domestic and international friends and tourists, contributing to the preservation and promotion of the fine traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities in conjunction with tourism development, thereby raising awareness among all levels, sectors, and ethnic minorities in building and developing Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of sustainable national development.

This year's Nho Quan District Ethnic Culture and Sports Festival will be held over three days, from March 1st to March 3rd, at the Cuc Phuong Commune Stadium. With the theme "Nho Quan - A Place of Convergence and Dissemination," the festival will feature 11 participating delegations, with over 2,000 artisans, performers, and amateur athletes from arts and sports clubs throughout the district. It promises to create a vibrant cultural space, delivering spiritual values, spreading positive messages, and honoring the strength of national unity.
At the festival, people and tourists can participate in and experience many cultural and sports activities rich in local identity, such as: folk art performances; camping and culinary events; gong and bamboo dance performances; a fair showcasing local industrial, handicraft and OCOP products; a thematic exhibition space on "Truong Sa - Hoang Sa of Vietnam - Historical and Legal Evidence"; competitions in sports and folk games such as stick pushing, throwing the ball, stilt walking, crossbow shooting…
