Having started his photography career in 2021, Dinh Nhu Thai (born in 1980, working in the cultural field, currently a member of the Quang Ninh Photography Association) primarily creates works revolving around daily life, labor, cultural beauty, and festivals. Although he hasn't been using a camera for long, he has many outstanding works such as: "Family Happiness," "The Call of the Spirits," "Cinnamon Season," "Happiness," "Village Nurse," "Children's Smile," etc. Each work is a truthful slice of life, reflecting the simple yet profound beauty of people and culture in various regions.
He shared: “My journey into photography began with a deep connection to everyday moments. During my work and field trips, I had many opportunities to interact with the lives and activities of ethnic minority communities. It was these authentic, emotionally rich images that inspired me to pick up my camera and capture moments that sometimes only last a split second but contain a whole story behind them.”
His creative journey is one of observation, listening, and empathy. After each field trip, he gains a deeper understanding of the culture, people, and traditional values. His works are often not staged, but always aim for naturalness and authenticity in each frame, especially regarding the lives of ethnic minorities in Quang Ninh and many other regions across the country, because just the eyes, smiles, or gestures of the characters are enough to tell their own stories. These could be an old man by the fire, a child in the highlands at a market, or the beauty of labor amidst the mountains and forests.
With a passion for music , gardening, and hosting, he shared his thoughts on the art of photography: “Photography is not just a hobby for me, but an important part of my life. It helps me slow down, observe more, and appreciate the simple things around me. Thanks to photography, I have the opportunity to travel to many places, meet many people, and understand more about the cultural diversity of the country. At the same time, photography helps me balance my life, reduce work pressure, and cultivate positive emotions. In particular, photography gives me a new perspective on life – deeper and more humane. On this journey, I am still continuing to learn, create, and preserve beautiful moments, spreading the positive values of Vietnamese people and culture.”
