Casemiro has been playing very impressively lately. |
The Brazilian midfielder is showing impressive form in the crucial stage of the season, despite preparing to leave Old Trafford in the summer of 2026. Since manager Michael Carrick took over the team, Casemiro's role in the tactical system has become increasingly important, helping the "Red Devils" compete on equal footing for a European cup spot.
In the 1-1 draw against West Ham in the 26th round of the Premier League on the morning of February 11th, Casemiro put the ball into the net with a close-range header. However, VAR determined he was offside. Nevertheless, the 33-year-old's overall performance was still highly praised, including recognition from Maguire.
The English center-back emphasized the importance of the tactical structure that Carrick built. "In football, if the system works well, you can perform well and look like a great player. It's the same with Casemiro. When the structure around him is right, he remains a top-class central midfielder," Maguire shared.
Joining MU in 2022 for a fee of around £70 million, Casemiro went through a period of decline due to injuries and the team's overall inconsistency. However, the former Real Madrid midfielder is now showing experience and composure in big matches under Carrick.
Meanwhile, Manchester United's management is reportedly already planning to find a replacement for Casemiro in midfield. Currently, Carlos Baleba and Elliot Anderson are on MU's watchlist ahead of the 2026 summer transfer window.
