Ly Duc reacted angrily to an opposing player and was sent off by the referee. |
The incident occurred in the 74th minute, amidst a tense match where pressure from the opposing team was mounting. In this instance, the Chinese U23 team scored their third goal against the Vietnamese U23 team in a very fortunate turn of events. A cross from the right wing deflected off the shoulder of the player wearing number 13, changing direction and going straight into the net.
Notably, Ly Duc lost his composure after a controversial collision with his opponent and immediately received a direct red card. The referee's decisive decision stunned the U23 Vietnam players, while the coaching staff on the sidelines could not hide their disappointment.
Later, after reviewing the slow-motion replay, the Australian referee determined that the Chinese U23 player was offside, thus disallowing the goal.
The loss of a player has put the Vietnam U23 team in a difficult position, especially with coach Kim Sang-sik's team trailing by two goals. Vietnam U23 is struggling against China's high-pressing style of play. Their opponents are not afraid of physical contact, implementing intense pressing whenever the red-shirted players cross the halfway line.
Even after Nguyen Dinh Bac came on at the start of the second half, the attacking play of the Vietnam U23 team still seemed quite ineffective.
