On his personal page, producer Nguyen Ngoc Thach announced that the film "Ma Xo" will conclude its theatrical run after June 22nd. He stated that the film's revenue of 145 billion VND exceeded the expectations of the entire team.
"After today, I and the distribution company have agreed and decided to stop screening the film in theaters, in order to prepare for the next steps of a longer-term project. This decision may surprise many people. But as the head of the project, I find this decision very welcome and correct," he said.

According to Box Office Vietnam statistics, the film has grossed 145 billion VND after 3 weeks of release. The production team says that "Ma Xó" has welcomed 1.8 million viewers to theaters.
Released on June 5th, "Ma Xó" stars Lê Khánh, Tín Nguyễn, and Avin Lu in the lead roles.
With a running time of 102 minutes, the film tells the story of the miserable life of a poor couple. Following the advice of a shaman, the wife performs a ritual to summon wandering spirits to guard the house and protect the unborn child. This decision gradually uncovers a tragedy that seemed to have been buried.
After its release, the film unexpectedly became a sensation, attracting much discussion on social media. Thanks to the generally positive feedback on both the story and the acting, the film's money-making journey encountered virtually no obstacles.
The film still ranks 3rd on the box office chart despite being released for 3 weeks. On June 22nd alone, "Ma Xó" raked in nearly 1.2 billion VND from approximately 1,500 screenings. If it doesn't leave theaters prematurely, reaching the 150 billion VND mark is entirely possible.
