Apple is now considering bringing this advanced display technology to the MacBook Pro as early as 2026. This strategic move is aimed at providing users with a display with true blacks, accurate colors, and superior contrast, according to a report from market analysis firm Omdia.

Omdia analyst Ricky Park pointed out that the integration of OLED displays into MacBook models is likely to happen in 2026. “It is highly likely that Apple will incorporate OLED into its MacBook models as early as 2026,” Park said. He added that this transition could “significantly increase the demand for OLED in the laptop market.”
Omdia Research predicts significant growth in the OLED panel market. By 2024, OLED panel supply is expected to triple from the previous year, with 12 million units for tablets and 5 million for laptops. Looking further out to 2031, the market is forecast to change dramatically, with 35 million OLED displays for tablets and a staggering 64 million for laptops.
Apple recently introduced OLED displays for its 2024 iPad Pro lineup, and the technology will also appear on future iPad mini and iPad Air models. A report from last week said that Samsung has begun developing a new 8-inch OLED panel for the iPad mini. The same report predicted that Apple will update the iPad mini and iPad Air with OLED technology in 2026.
