Apple is currently considering bringing this advanced display technology to the MacBook Pro as early as 2026. This strategic move aims to provide users with a screen that, according to market analysis firm Omdia, offers true blacks, accurate colors, and superior contrast.

Omdia analyst Ricky Park has indicated that the integration of OLED displays into MacBook models is highly likely to occur in 2026. Park stated, “It’s highly probable that Apple will incorporate OLED into its MacBook models as early as 2026.” He further noted that this transition could “significantly increase demand for OLED in the laptop market.”

Omdia's research predicts significant growth in the OLED panel market. By 2024, the supply of OLED panels is expected to triple compared to the previous year, with 12 million units for tablets and 5 million units for laptops. Looking further ahead to 2031, the market is projected to undergo dramatic changes, with 35 million OLED displays for tablets and an astonishing 64 million for laptops.

Apple recently equipped the 2024 iPad Pro lineup with OLED displays, and this technology will soon appear on future iPad mini and iPad Air models. Furthermore, a report from last week indicated that Samsung has begun developing a new 8-inch OLED panel for the iPad mini. The same report predicts that Apple will update the iPad mini and iPad Air with OLED technology in 2026.
