Many people mistakenly think that Mr. Truong De is a true son of Quang Tri because of his rich knowledge of history and culture and his passionate love for his homeland. But he smiled and said: "I am only "fated" with Quang Tri!" Because he was born in Phong Son commune, Phong Dien town, Thua Thien Hue province (old), in a family of 7 children, so his circumstances were very difficult. From an early age, he did all kinds of jobs, going all the way to Vinh city (old), Nghe An province to both study and work as an auto repairman.
At that time, seeing that many customers from Quang Binh (old) often brought their cars to the repair shop, he discovered the potential for development in the new land. He traveled alone to Dong Hoi City (old), which was then a town, rented a motorbike, explored the town, and even sat for several hours on the national highway to count the number of cars passing by every day. Finally, not missing the opportunity, in 2004, he decided to bring his wife and children here to start a business. Initially, it was a small car repair garage in Ly Trach commune, Bo Trach district (old). Thanks to always maintaining his reputation and ensuring service quality, he gradually expanded his business and stabilized his life.

Mr. Truong De confided that at that time, his love for history “rose again”. Actually, this love had existed since childhood when his grandfather knew Chinese characters and often told him stories about local history and culture. That source gradually “soaked in”, later, despite being busy with making a living, he still spent a little time every day to learn and read books about history and culture, especially about the land and people of Quang Binh (old). He searched for, read and studied many valuable books so as “not to miss the golden knowledge” of his father.
By 2020, he had cherished the desire to build a youtube channel to introduce the relics, cultural and historical figures of Quang Binh (old) to viewers, especially the youth. With his daughter, who is a journalism student, guiding him on how to film and edit video clips, he persevered in learning and gradually practiced.
“I started studying at the age of 50, so I had many difficulties, but thanks to perseverance, patience, and passion, I started to complete the first video clip introducing the famous Dao Duy Tu and the Luy Thay system within 10 days. I created the page "Finding the old traces" on youtube to post the video clip. Surprisingly, many people came to the page and watched the video clip, leaving many words of encouragement and support. Just like that, I continued to make other products, especially about the relics and famous people of Quang Binh (old) that are not yet known to many young people... To date, more than 80 video clips about Quang Binh (old) have been released. I also expanded to include places, famous people, historical and cultural relics in Quang Tri (old), Hue City, Ho Chi Minh City...", Mr. Truong De shared.

During his journey to find the past, he met and talked with many people who left a deep impression on him, such as cultural and historical researchers, confidants with the same passion for culture and history, or descendants who were eager to introduce their ancestors. Each trip, although difficult, brought him joy and satisfied his passion for exploring and learning about his homeland's history.
One of the memories he will always remember is the time he searched for the burial place of Truong Van Hien, the teacher of the three Tay Son brothers (Nguyen Nhac, Nguyen Hue, Nguyen Lu) in Nhan Trach commune, Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province (old). While coincidentally researching documents about a historical figure, he read this information, so he became more curious, urged to find the descendants of the Truong family, and finally stopped in front of the tomb of this very special character.
This is little-known information, because after King Gia Long ascended the throne, all documents about the Tay Son dynasty became very rare. Pondering in front of the tomb of the teacher who is considered to have had a great influence on the determination to "change the country" of the "Tay Son Tam Kiet", Mr. Truong De promised himself to make a meaningful video clip to introduce this character. Searching for rare sources of documents, meeting researchers and descendants of the Truong Van family in Nhan Trach, he released the video clip and received many views and comments of love and surprise about the special discovery.
“In the coming time, I will improve my knowledge and skills to continue to release many video clips introducing the land and people of Quang Tri, because there are still many places I have not had the opportunity to visit and many cultural and historical figures are not yet widely known to the public,” said Mr. Truong De.
Another unforgettable memory for Mr. Truong De was in 2023, when he made a video clip introducing the tomb of the famous person Nguyen The Truc, who was an official during all three dynasties (Lord Nguyen, Tay Son Dynasty and Nguyen Dynasty), from Loc An village, An Thuy commune, Le Thuy district, Quang Binh province (old). Professor Tran Ich Nguyen from National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan happened to see this video clip.
At that time, the professor discovered that the anonymous author of the book “Su trinh thi tap” from the Tay Son period was Nguyen The Truc (also known as Nguyen Viet Truc). The professor discovered that this was the tomb of the author of the book and searched for the ancient traces, returned to Le Thuy and gave a copy to the descendants of the Nguyen The family.

According to the Chairman of the Quang Tri Han Nom Club, Truong Quang Phuc, in recent times, Mr. Truong De has made great efforts in researching and introducing historical and cultural relics and celebrities to viewers through the youtube channel "Finding the Old Marks". He also actively cooperated with the Club in clarifying related valuable documents. This is a very commendable effort of a person who is devoted to his father's heritage.
