Kylian Mbappe continued to write another page in French football history with a goal against Ukraine in a 2-0 win in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The goal in the 82nd minute not only helped "Les Bleus" decide the match but also helped him equal Thierry Henry's record.

Both currently have 51 goals for their national teams, but Mbappe only needed 91 games to reach that milestone (Henry 123), an incredible scoring efficiency.

Olivier Giroud is currently France 's all-time leading scorer with 57 goals. A six-goal gap is only a matter of time for Mbappe.

At the age of 26, the striker born in Bondy (Paris) has a wide open path to set new records, maybe even pushing the milestone to a level that is difficult for anyone to reach in the coming years.

The victory over Ukraine once again showed the strength and pragmatism of the team under Didier Deschamps.

As early as the 10th minute, Michael Olise opened the score with a delicate finish after Barcola's assist.

The early goal helped France play leisurely, controlling the game with a solid foundation from midfield. Ukraine had moments of resistance, especially with Zabarnyi's shot hitting the post, but the blue defense with Konate in command still stood firm.

The most memorable moment, of course, belonged to Mbappe. From Tchouameni's long, emotional pass, the French captain accelerated, turned to eliminate the Ukrainian defender and shot decisively low.

For Deschamps, it was a perfect start to the 2026 World Cup European qualifiers : a win, a clean sheet and big stars all making their mark.
