Mbeumo and Baleba gradually became closer while on international duty with the Cameroon national team, during the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in the African region.

The striker who arrived at Old Trafford this summer is playing the role of "Agent X," trying to convince Baleba to leave the Amex Stadium and move to Old Trafford.

According to internal sources within the Cameroon national team, Mbeumo shared his joy at joining the big club Manchester United and acted as an "older brother" to Baleba (who is only 21 years old).

Despite Manchester United's inconsistent form, Mbeumo has consistently performed well, scoring regularly and making a difference to the team's attack.

Reportedly, the Red Devils' leadership contacted Baleba last summer but did not make an official offer after spending over £200 million on Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Benjamin Sesko.

However, the Manchester club could restart negotiations next year, aiming to strengthen their currently unstable midfield.

Manchester United scouts are closely monitoring Baleba's form, while Brighton have stated firmly that they will not sell the young talent for less than £100 million.

In fact, Ruben Amorim desperately needs a dynamic midfielder to partner with captain Bruno Fernandes in the midfield.

Besides Baleba, the Red Devils are also targeting a few other quality players in the Premier League such as Adam Wharton and Elliot Anderson.
