On the morning of April 12th, Messi and Inter Miami once again dropped points at their new home stadium, Nu Stadium, as they were held to a 2-2 draw by New York RB in Round 7 of the 2026 Major League Soccer (MLS) season.
Despite dominating possession from the opening minutes, a leaky defense continued to be Beckham's Achilles' heel. In the 15th minute, New York RB unexpectedly took the lead thanks to a close-range finish from Jorge Ruvalcaba.
It wasn't until the very last minute of injury time in the first half that Inter Miami found the equalizer, making it 1-1, after a precise cross from De Paul set up Mateo Silvetti to tap the ball in from close range.
In the second half, Inter Miami started with great enthusiasm. In the 55th minute, Messi initiated a well-executed combination play that tore apart the opposing defense before German Berterme finished to make the score 2-1.

However, Messi and his teammates' joy was short-lived. In the 77th minute, the home team's defense made another serious positional error, allowing Julian Hall to comfortably dribble into the penalty area and cross the ball to Adri Mehmeti, who scored to equalize the score at 2-2.
For the remainder of the match, Messi played with great effort, but luck was not on the side of the Argentine superstar. He missed a close-range shot and, most unfortunately, a powerful free-kick in the 94th minute was brilliantly saved by the opposing goalkeeper.
This disappointing draw means Inter Miami are still without a win at their new home, Nu Stadium.
