Northern Vietnam experiences severe cold weather.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, today's weather news (March 1, 2024) indicates that a cold front is currently affecting most of Northern Vietnam, the northern part of Central Vietnam, and some areas in the central part of Central Vietnam. In the Gulf of Tonkin, strong northeasterly winds of force 6, gusting to force 8, are observed.

Today, this cold air mass continues to affect some other areas in central Vietnam. Northeast winds inland will gradually strengthen to level 3, and level 4-5 in coastal areas.

In the northeastern region of Northern Vietnam, Hoa Binh, Lao Cai, and Yen Bai, the weather will continue to be intensely cold, with severe cold in mountainous areas; the western region of Northern Vietnam and the northern part of Central Vietnam will also experience cold weather. During this cold spell, the lowest temperatures in the northeastern region will generally range from 10-13 degrees Celsius, in the northern mountainous areas from 7-10 degrees Celsius, and in some high mountainous areas below 5 degrees Celsius; in the northern part of Central Vietnam, temperatures will generally range from 13-16 degrees Celsius.

In the Gulf of Tonkin, strong northeasterly winds of force 6, gusting to force 7-8, will cause rough seas with waves 2-3 meters high; in the northern South China Sea (including the waters around the Hoang Sa archipelago), strong northeasterly winds of force 6, gusting to force 7-8, will cause rough seas; in the northeastern part of the northern South China Sea, winds may occasionally reach force 7, gusting to force 8-9, causing very rough seas with waves 2-4 meters high.

In the western part of the South China Sea (including the western part of the Spratly Islands), strong easterly to northeasterly winds of force 6, gusting to force 7, will cause rough seas; wave height will be 2-3 meters. From the evening of March 1st, the sea area from Ninh Thuan to Ca Mau will experience increasingly strong northeasterly winds of force 6, gusting to force 7; rough seas; wave height will be 2-3 meters.

Warning: Rain and light rain are expected in the Northern and North Central regions. From early morning on March 1st to 3rd, the area from Quang Binh to Khanh Hoa will experience scattered rain and showers, with thunderstorms in some places. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind.

Lowest temperatures range from 13-16°C in the north and 17-20°C in the south. Highest temperatures range from 16-19°C in the north and 20-23°C in the south.

Southern Vietnam

Cloudy with sunny periods, especially in the east where it will be hot; no rain at night. Northeast to east winds, force 2-3.

The lowest temperature will be between 24 and 27 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature will be between 31 and 34 degrees Celsius; in the eastern region, it will be 35-36 degrees Celsius, with some places exceeding 36 degrees Celsius.
