The Vietnam U22 team continued their high-intensity training at the RBAC stadium (Bangkok, Thailand) on December 8th, in preparation for the crucial match against Malaysia U22 in the final round of Group B of the men's football tournament at the 33rd SEA Games.
The training atmosphere was vibrant, with the entire team clearly demonstrating high levels of focus and determination in their fight for a place in the semi-finals. Coach Kim Sang-sik received good news as the squad is in peak physical condition and has recovered. Midfielder Nguyen Xuan Bac, who had to leave the field early in the match against U22 Laos, has participated in normal training and is gradually regaining his form to integrate into the team's rhythm. During the morning training session, the players also received intensive physical training exercises in the hotel gym, under the guidance of assistant coach Yoon Dong-hun.
During the main training session, the coaching staff prioritized tactical and strategic aspects, thoroughly assessing the performance of each position to select the ideal lineup for the crucial match against U22 Malaysia – the team currently leading Group B with 3 points, the same as U22 Vietnam but with a superior goal difference (+3 compared to +1). Earlier, defender Nguyen Nhat Minh assessed U22 Malaysia's performance as impressive, with abundant physical fitness and a powerful playing style, therefore, U22 Vietnam must maintain high vigilance and firmly hold their formation.

When asked about the chances of winning Group B, Nhat Minh commented: "Both teams have 3 points, so the chances are equal, 50-50. The team that plays better will have the advantage. We have prepared thoroughly and are confident in aiming for the best possible result." Nhat Minh affirmed that the team is not pressured by the disadvantage in goal difference, because the U22 Vietnam team has had many impressive victories against Malaysian youth teams in the past.
"Our biggest strength is our team spirit. If given the opportunity, I will try to contribute through attacking plays on the flanks or assists, as I have done before, to help the team achieve its goals," Nhat Minh emphasized.
With only two days left before the decisive match, coach Kim Sang-sik and his team must win against U22 Malaysia to overcome the goal difference disadvantage and take the top spot in the group.
